Description
Procurement Manger will develop and manage cost effective processes for the purchase of pulpwood in support of the production of premium paper grades.
Key Responsibilities:
• Negotiate wood supply agreement contracts, establish pricing and terms
• Work closely with suppliers to assure continuity of material supply, to match mill production rates
• Field auditing and managing of suppliers to ensure adherence to all specifications
• Work with mill operations and suppliers to manage wood deliveries, ensure a safe operation, timely turnaround and accurate accounting
• Manage inventory and relations with offsite third party woodyards
• Identify opportunities for cost-effective improvements to the supply chain
• Monitor and communicate market conditions. Establish annual budgets. Forecast wood volumes and costs, for mill and corporate reporting
• Prepare reports and presentations to monitor program performance
• Maintain SFI/FSC/PEFC Certification for raw material supply
• Work cooperatively with mill Operations, external stakeholders, Finance, Purchasing teams to ensure best practices are followed
• Strong safety mindset and background
• BS Degree in Forestry, Timber Management, Business or a closely related field; an advanced degree, while not required is highly desirable
• Seven or more years’ experience in wood supply and must be familiar with logging operations, timber sales and/or procurement functions
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong negotiating skills and highly accomplished analytical skills
• Ability to work cooperatively across departments and build good business relationships with a wide range of individuals
• Highly motivated, self-starter
• The ability to work independently without supervisor, results oriented, highly organized and able to efficiently manage several diverse tasks at the same time to meet demanding deadlines
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience with LIMS software is a plus
• Valid Driver’s License along with a safe driving record
• A professional presence and demeanor to be a significant contributor to the success of Domtar Hawesville Mill
