THE ROLE
Project Controller works with Project Manager to ensure a project stays within budget and gets delivered on time. Help identify areas of improvement for project operations by closely monitoring a project's progress. Project Controller oversees a project's revenues and expenses to ensure it stays within budget.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Common job duties for a project controller may include:
- Establish and maintain a Portfolio Master Schedule including monitoring, status reporting and revisions as required.
- Reviewing a project's deadlines and budget with the project manager.
- Coordinating payments to subcontractors and vendors.
- Oversee, identify plan deviations, and recommend resolution for project manager.
- Create project progress reports and make recommendations for ways to improve the project's progress.
- Analysing performance data to establish performance metrics.
- Develop risk mitigations.
- Handle and manage the intake, verification, and storage of documents.
- Working closely with technical experts, project leads and project managers in planning, creating, and managing project schedules.
- Maintain current and forecasted Cash Flow data when compared to projected Cash Flow.
- Offering coaching and guidance to junior team members.
- Represent the team as a key contract, liaising with project managers and other stakeholders.
- Comparing ongoing project activities with the project management plan and project performance baseline.
- Anticipate potential problems and recommend resolution for project manager.
- Manage project controls team.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree required, a concentration in Construction Management, Engineering, Science or Business Administrator.
- More than five years in a similar role.
- Strong communication skills – written and verbal.
- Good analytical and planning skills.
- Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications
- Proficiency in the use of project scheduling software such as MS project is a requirement.
- Good working ethics and ability to treat documents with confidentiality.
- Some exposure to metallurgical processes desire.
- Highly demonstrated ability in conceptual and practical planning skills
- Strong working ability with MS Office (Excel, spreadsheets, project planners, charting etc.) Experience in SAP preferred.
