IT Capacity Planning Manager manages staff responsible for monitoring the organization's data processing and storage needs and develops long-term plans to meet business requirements. Develops policies for network storage system troubleshooting, updating and general maintenance. Being an IT Capacity Planning Manager documents problems and solutions and serves as the point of contact for network capacity related issues. Allocates storage space, plans for future projects or acquisitions, reviews hardware and software configurations and makes suggestions for appropriate storage or backup models. Additionally, IT Capacity Planning Manager may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The IT Capacity Planning Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an IT Capacity Planning Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. North America Sort Centers (NASC) are experiencing explosive growth and looking for a skilled, highly motivated and experienced Supply Chain Manager with leadership experience and a strong delivery record to join the NASC Mid-Term Planning Team (US and Canada). The Sort Center network is the critical Middle-Mile solution in the Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) group, linking Fulfillment Centers to the Last Mile. The experience of our customers is dependent on our ability to efficiently execute new programs and manage volume flow through the middle-mile network.

    Supply Chain Managers will interact with all facets of the NASC Network driving innovation, consistency, increased control, uniformity, and the development of a more efficient centralized network planning process working with SC Operations and core Transportation teams in North America.

    Successful candidates will be self-starters who have experience in operations life cycles, including development, design, implementation, enhancement and support along with project/program management experience. A strong bias for action, planning skills, quantitative analysis, and the ability to adopt and deliver new initiatives involving leadership across cross-functional operations, technical, and business teams is essential. This position will include regular direct communications with senior leaders across the organization.

    The Supply Chain Manager must be agile with the ability to quickly adopt and drive strategies, plans, resources and solutions in response to dynamic business requirements. This individual needs to be comfortable interfacing and driving various functional teams and individuals across the organization.



    Key job responsibilities
    • Lead strategic initiatives related to network capacity within Amazon's various business units.
    • Concentrate on optimizing and managing the flow of goods, information, or services within the supply chain network.
    • Balance supply and demand, assess and improve the efficiency of distribution networks, warehouses, or logistics operations.
    • Analyze and synthesize data to identify opportunities for enhancing customer experiences and operational efficiency in network capacity.
    • Define metrics, develop program management mechanisms, and invent/simplify processes to drive decision-making in complex network capacity situations.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders across different functions, influencing and facilitating agreements to achieve shared network capacity goals.
    • Manage cross-functional network capacity initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement and adherence to lean philosophy at scale.
    • Own a portfolio of cross-functional programs related to network capacity, driving performance improvement and efficiency in project delivery.
    • Identify and deliver operational improvement opportunities in network capacity, focusing on inventory management, logistics strategy, and transportation optimization.
    • Monitor and optimize key network capacity metrics to ensure the smooth flow of goods or services through the supply chain network.
    • Ability to travel up to 25% with non-standard hours including possible nights and weekends

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    - Bachelor's degree in operations, supply chain, business, engineering, finance, or related fields.
    - 2 years of program or project management experience, with a focus on network capacity.
    - Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements in network capacity processes.
    - Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel (vlookups, pivot tables at minimum) and familiarity of SQL.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    - Master's degree or MBA in relevant fields.
    - Specific experience in driving process improvements in network capacity.
    - Technical aptitude and familiarity with complex systems.
    - Strong analytical skills and ability to work with large, complex datasets.
