Position Overview:

The Desktop Administrator’s role is to provide support and maintenance within the organization’s desktop computing and IT Operations environment. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all PC hardware and software to ensure optimal workstation performance. The chosen candidate will also perform some daily system checks and monitoring of routine jobs and system backup

Position Responsibilities:

• Front line responsibility for handling all Helpdesk phone calls received between the hours of 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (CST).
• Front line responsibility for handling all Help desk tickets received during shift.
• Initial troubleshooting / incident resolution responsibility from 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (CST)
• Monitor nightly jobs and scheduled system backups.
• Front line responsibility for assigning support requests to fix agents not resolved by this position.
• Troubleshoot and assess internal system outage events and coordinate with NOC and/or appropriate IT Fix agents to resolve.
• Follow up on open tickets.
• Perform nightly system checks on critical systems.
• Perform routine maintenance on various systems.
• Troubleshoot mobile phone issues.
• Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring desktop operations.
• Accurately document instances of desktop equipment or component failure, repair, installation and removal.
• If necessary, liaise with third-party support and PC equipment vendors.
• Responsible for account creations and deletions as necessary.
• Project work as needed.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in the field of Computer Science and/or 3 years equivalent work experience A and or MCSE required.
• Excellent technical knowledge of PC and desktop hardware, including Dell, Lenovo.
• Excellent technical knowledge of PC internal components.
• Hands on troubleshooting experience.
• Working technical knowledge of current protocols, operating systems, and standards, including Windows XP and Windows 7 and Server 2008.
• Experience with server tools such as SCOM, Solar winds, Net App Ops manager, VC Ops and Net backup.
• Ability to conduct research into PC issues and products as required.
• Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories.
• Effective interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
• Understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
• Self motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Strong customer-service orientation.
• Ability to work required days and hours.
• Possible On-call availability for 14 days per month.
• Second shift position.
• Weekend and Night Shift work.
• Sit for extended periods of time.
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, hand and power tools, and to handle other computer components.
