Hyperbaric Technician administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy and diagnostic testing to patients under the direction of a physician. Documents required treatment details including equipment settings, treatment duration, and patient response. Being a Hyperbaric Technician operates hyperbaric chamber and other hyperbaric support systems in accordance to all applicable safety standards and regulations. Performs cleaning of chamber and equipment according to infection control policies. Additionally, Hyperbaric Technician performs equipment checks and system maintenance. Requires a high school diploma. Requires Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Hyperbaric Technician works under moderate supervision. This position is located in El Paso, TX.

    Job Overview at Center for Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine LLC:

    The Hyperbaric Technician (EMT, CNA, CMA) administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy and diagnostic testing to patients under the direction of a physician.  The hyperbaric technician is expected to deliver the hyperbaric therapy safely and effectively while contributing to an environment that promotes the healing and well-being of patients.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chambers and related support systems and equipment.
    • Performs hyperbaric chamber and ancillary equipment operations and system maintenance as required.
    • Provides a caring environment at the facilities that encompass a patient first philosophy.
    • Accountable for the safe delivery of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to the hyperbaric patient throughout all aspects of care.
    • Supports onboarding of new team members and precepts as applicable.
    • Quality Achievement includes adherence to clinical documentation guidelines, comprehension of outcomes data, engagement in performance improvement activities and commitment to standard work.
    • Innovation is demonstrated by the application of technologies and methods that support patient care, actively seeking to implement evidence-based practice and new knowledge generated by hyperbaric medicine.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications for This Role Include:  

    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Active EMT, CNA, or CMA license with state or national certification.
    • 2 years of hands on experience in clinical environment. Prior experience in hyperbaric oxygen therapy preferred.
    • Valid Driver’s License with positive driving history. A Chauffeur’s License is required in some states.
    • Current BLS from approved agency.
    • Must possess proficient computer skills and experience in clinical documentation and navigating an Electronic Medical Record.
    • Must possess the ability to multitask.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to treat patients with compassion and patience.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
    • Positive background check, negative drug screen, and hospital credentials (as needed) required.

    Travel:

    • This position may require light ground and/or air travel.

    Physical Demands:

    • The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by a Hyperbaric Technician (EMT, CNA, CMA) to successfully perform the essential competencies, duties, and requirements of this position.  These include standing, walking, driving, lifting up to 50 pounds and sitting for extended periods of time.  In addition, pushing, pulling, stooping, squatting and shifting heavy objects, as well as air travel, may be required.  Employees should ask for assistance if needed.
