Documents required treatment details including equipment settings, treatment duration, and patient response. Being a Hyperbaric Technician operates hyperbaric chamber and other hyperbaric support systems in accordance to all applicable safety standards and regulations. Performs cleaning of chamber and equipment according to infection control policies. Additionally, Hyperbaric Technician performs equipment checks and system maintenance. Requires a high school diploma. Requires Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Hyperbaric Technician works under moderate supervision. The Hyperbaric Registered Nurse is responsible for providing quality nursing care for and assisting wound care and hyperbaric patients, following established standards and policies through scheduling, taking and documenting medical history, education of patients regarding their progress on the plan of care and response to treatment, recording vital statistics, medication injections and follow up, reviewing sample medications for outdates, maintaining adequate supplies, and stocking exam rooms. Maintains patient confidentiality. Consults with physicians and team members regarding changes in patient conditions and revises the plan of care, as necessary, utilizing input of team members. Participates in staff meetings and abides by general policies and rules of conduct as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act.
Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent required. Current license in the State of Kansas as a Registered Nurse required. Training for Clinical Hyperbaric Registered Nurse (CHRN) required with one year of hire date. Five years of RN or Hyperbaric experience preferred but not required. At least one year of recent practice experience in clinical hyperbaric medicine preferred. ACLS preferred. Basic Life Support required. Must have communication skills necessary to provide appropriate information to the age of the patients served. Must have documentation of successful completion of at least 40 credit hours from the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT) approved Hyperbaric Medicine Introductory Course. Bi-lingual skills preferred. Should obtain a minimum of 10 CEU's in a 2 year time period in the field of hyperbaric medicine.
