ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Human Resource Director (HRD) has the responsibility and accountability for all functional areas of Human Resources across the organization. The HRD will work directly with the Leadership Team to develop and deploy integrated HR strategies, solutions, and infrastructure which will support and enable the organization’s growth, sustainability and long-term success. The HRD ensures legal compliance and implementation of the organization’s mission and talent strategy.
Essential Duties:
- Accountable to the strategic planning and direction of the organization Human Resource Function.
- Develops organizational strategies by identifying and researching Human Resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to the organization strategic thinking and direction; establishing Human Resources objectives in line with organizational objectives.
- Stays current and maintains a high level of knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in Human Resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to recommend and communicate organizational changes in policy, practice, and resources to the leadership team.
- Oversight and accountability for all functional areas of Human Resources; hiring, assignment, and supervision of HR staff.
- Maintains a work environment of effective supervision and respect; provides guidance and oversight for corrective action/discipline issues, controversial and sensitive staff issues, investigations, mediation and arbitration, policy interpretation and employee separations.
- Ensures all actions are consistent with NBBC’s values and desired culture.
- Visits all 13 North Bay locations and the Garden of Eatin’ business line, on a quarterly basis.
- Attends weekly Leadership meetings and individually meet with key team members to understand perceptions and current state of HR Processes.
- Reports monthly KPI’s for the following programs: hiring, retention, career/succession plans, workforce planning, employee satisfaction program, learning & development, performance management programs, & internship and apprenticeship programs.
- Acts as system administrator for all HR software management tolls, i.e. ADP, EASE, Indeed, AmTrust, and Primark benefits, etc.
- Complies with all Federal, State, Community Care Licensing, Department of Social Services, Homeland Security, and local authorities by studying existing, new or anticipated HR legislation and enforcing adherence to requirements.
- Oversees administration of all employer-provided and voluntary benefits, paid time off, leaves of absence, ergonomics/injury prevention, and workers compensation.
- Evaluates and modifies benefit programs to ensure programs are current, cost effective, competitive and in compliance with legal requirements.
- Oversees compensation functions including base salary structure, compensation law compliance, job descriptions, and job codes. Reviews and analyzes wage and salary reports/data to ensure equity and market competitive compensation plans. Provides input to leadership on budget regarding all facets of compensation.
- Oversees Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), including reporting and analysis as needed; required administrative functions, including maintaining all required documentation retention and files; and employee intake and exit protocols.
- Provides leadership team with regular and special HR activity metrics and reports (retention data; turnover; cost of hire; selection ratios, open positions, etc.).
- Oversees the entire recruitment and hiring process, includingsupporting and training hiring managers.
- Works with leadership to develop and forecast long-range staffing plans and needs.
- Supervises development and utilization of performance evaluation system and overall effectiveness.
- Provides training and coaching for managers on performance management.
- Ensures performance reviews are being done on a timely basis across the organization.
- Directs the development and coordination of training programs.
- Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices. Ensures compliance and accuracy in submitting required Federal, State and Local reporting to various agencies, as required by law (EEO, Pay Data Reporting, ERISA, LMRDA, etc.).
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong verbal and written skills required. Able to convert sound ideas and directional imperatives into clear policies and guiding documents for the organization.
- Able to assess the big-picture and translate insight into action.
- Deep working knowledge of all aspects of HR, and able to train/develop an HR team.
- Routinely demonstrates effective leadership and helps nurture those skills in others. Strategic thinker and sound planner. Works collaboratively while possessing the skills to lead, influence, and motivate others.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with a diverse array of people throughout the organization.
- Protects high degree of confidentiality of sensitive issues and material as appropriate.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, along with HRIS.
- Demonstrates sound judgment and decision-making skills utilizing data and metrics to support conclusions.
- Able to prioritize projects, work relatively independently, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration or related field, advanced degree preferred; plus, formal HR training commensurate with responsibilities.
- Minimum 10 years of related experience, with at least 3-5 at director level or equivalent.
- Thorough understanding and working knowledge of Local, Federal and State employment laws (FLSA, EEO, OSHA, ADA, FEHA, FMLA, CFRA, DLSE, Title VII, IWC, Cal OSHA, ERISA, COBRA, etc.).
- Demonstrates knowledge of advanced Human Resources concepts, principles, and practices in all listed functions.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex laws, regulations and policies.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn organization’s HRIS and Talent Management Systems.
- Demonstrates experience and ability to effectively supervise and mentor staff.
- Professional HR certification preferred (SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, SPHR, PHR, or PHR-CA).
- Sensitivity and willingness to interact with persons of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.
- Demonstrates commitment to working collaboratively as well as possessing the skills to lead, influence, and motivate others.
- Possess a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and clean driving record.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus!
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
