Description
The Human Resources Generalist, under the direction and guidance of the Human Resources Director (HRD), is responsible for providing day-to-day Human Resources support to all levels throughout La Montañita Food Cooperative. This involves assisting with, developing, implementing and supporting Human Resources initiatives that will increase organizational effectiveness and derive the full potential of the workforce. It is essential for the Human Resources Generalist to maintain confidential team member and LMFC information within the Human Resources Department and accurately track, enter and store date within the Human Resources Information System and files to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and laws. The Human Resources Generalist will have knowledge of all areas pertaining to Human Resources while demonstrating strong expertise in recruiting, training, health and safety, onboarding, implementing policies, employee relations, administrative items, employee investigations and procedure compliance.
Some essential functions and responsibilities include:
- Serves as a resource for team members by listening to concerns and needs and makes recommendations, with the guidance of the HR Director, for a resolution that provides the best outcome for all parties based on guidelines, expectations, policies, regulations and LMFC overall strategy and vision.
- Provides Human Resources policy guidance to management and team members. Ensures regulatory compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance pertinent to the day-to-day management of team members. Collaborates and seeks out guidance from HR Director when necessary.
- Conducts and responsible for team member onboarding and helps with organizing onboarding initiatives (presentation).
- Responsible for recruiting and onboarding. Responsible for assisting in developing and implementing administrative procedures and executing improvements through Human Resources and other departmental areas.
- Leads internal investigations; provides support for conflict resolution; monitors coaching situations; and terminations as necessary, under the guidance of the HR Director.
- Supports team member engagement, rewards and recognition programs and initiatives.
- Supports and assists with human resource compliance efforts by ensuring guidelines and policies are consistent and enforced in the areas of AAP, EEOC, ADA, FLSA, etc. Prepares, trends, and presents HR metrics. This includes weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting as directed.
- Supports and executes the administration of human resource programs including benefits, leave of absence programs, disciplinary process, investigations, performance management, recognition, and occupational health and safety programs.
- Serves as back up to bi-weekly submittal of payroll and any payroll audits requested in additional to off cycle payroll items. Ensures payroll items are adhered to by management with completion on pre-payroll actions.
- Reconciles/validates data entry to ensure data integrity and supports routine audit requests.
- Other responsibilities, projects and tasks and functions related to the Human Resources Department or as appointed by the HR Director.
Requirements
- Degree in Human Resources Management, related field and/or commensurate experience with a minimum of three (3) years' experience in human resources.
- General knowledge in all aspects of human resources and all pertinent rules, regulations, and local, state, and federal laws including FLSA, ADAAA, OSHA, EEOC, and workers compensation.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills and able to communicate with individuals of diverse background and experiences.
- Effectively present information in one-to-one and small group situations to customers and team members.
- Proficient computer skills to include, Word, Power Point, Excel, email, website software with an aptitude to learning new programs.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to adhere and follow safety, regulatory, and wellness guidelines. Safety Conscious and adhering to required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is required.
- Ability to deal with frequent changes, delays and unexpected events in a calm manner.
- Dependable, reliable, self-motivated and goal-oriented.
- Must be able to work mornings, afternoon, evenings, nights and weekends as needed.
- Must be able to work a minimum of 2 days a week at the Santa Fe location.
Qualifications a plus to have:
- Certification in Human Resources.
- Two (2) years payroll processing experience.
- Prior experience working in a retail environment.
