Position Purpose

The purpose of the Human Resources Generalist is to maximize the productivity of an organization by optimizing the effectiveness of its employees. 

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain updated company and employee manuals, policies and procedures
• Maintain electronic and paper employee personnel files and associated reports
• Develop and maintain appropriate job titles and job descriptions utilized by managers and employees for recruitment, performance management, and other purposes
• Assist in recruitment efforts as requested by SMT and/or managers, utilizing external and internal resources
• Facilitate new employee orientation and integration processes
• Sit on committees whose goals are to assure that retirement, medical coverage, and other benefits remain competitive in our industry. Assist in development of recommendations to Senior Staff for plan updates and policy changes.
• Provide communication to employees regarding Company benefits. Coordinate Company discretionary and statute (e.g., Workers compensation) benefit activity including documentation, interface with accounting/payroll, and related matters
• Administer company vacation, holiday, 401(k) and other policies and benefit programs
• Regularly visit (and telephone and email) operating departments and offices to build employee relations 
• Assist in preparation of statutorily required records to promote legal compliance. Maintain current information and communicate regularly with managers so that they are informed of changes in legal requirements (i.e., EEO, Wage-Hour, Workplace Harassment, documentation, etc.)
• Assist with preparation of training programs 
• Support business managers in process of progressive counseling and discipline. Ensure appropriate documentation to file of same.
• Assist in meeting goals of the retention plan, as well as measuring and reporting success
• Provide directive, guidance and/or assistance to payroll and accounting department, other administrative departments as requested or directed. 
• Lead and assist other HR staff in recruitment, on-boarding, and retention processes, developing and maintaining benefits programs, and other HR functions
• Other duties as assigned or as needed in order to successfully complete project deliverables or meet internal goals

Requirements

Education 

• Three (3) to seven (7) years’ experience as human resources professional. B.A. (or equivalent experience) and PHR/SPHR preferred.
• Strong knowledge of key federal and state legal requirements, and private company human resource functions.

Experience

• Experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and HRIS. 
• Demonstrated achievement developing and maintaining strong employee relationships.
