    POSITION SUMMARY:
    This position’s primary responsibility is to provide strategic and operational leadership of all aspects of the Human Resources (HR) function in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the University. The Executive Director of Human Resources serves as the strategic partner to the University executive management team regarding key organizational and management issues.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Develop and lead the company's human capital plan and direct all centralized human capital activities including recruiting, employment, compensation, benefits, performance management, learning and development, HR processing and operations, employee relations, regulatory compliance organizational design and development, and change management.
    • Direct the collaboration of the HR team with the Office of Business and Finance in completing the payroll process to ensure all employees are paid timely and accurately.
    • Drive the strategic talent acquisition process at all levels of the organization and partner with other leaders of the university to anticipate and execute plans to address future organizational needs.
    • Ensure the company attracts and retains high-quality employees, ultimately building a bench of outstanding leaders across the organization; this includes attracting top talent to join the company and cultivating the development and advancement of current team members.
    • Provide leadership on the development of standardized HR and employee-related policies and procedures across the university, considering the culture and growth objectives of the university; administer and maintain the university employee handbook.
    • Develop and implement programs that produce superior employee engagement, satisfaction, retention, and productivity, including creating and driving communication strategies and plans to inform and engage all levels of employees (employee engagement/recognition)
    • Administer the university’s benefit programs and monitor their cost effectiveness; propose policy and benefit changes to university leadership; direct the day-to-day operation of all employee benefit programs, including initial enrollments, processing of withholding through payroll, claims documentation, and the processing and termination of coverage at the time of separation from the workforce.
    • Ensure consistent and equitable application and compliance with applicable university policies, local, state, and federal laws, and governmental regulations and proactively identify when situations require the review of the university’s Compliance Officer and/or outside counsel.
    • Maintain a staff performance management framework that aligns individual and team goals with the university’s strategic objectives and supports future employment decisions.
    • Provide guidance and support to those who lead in performance coaching, conflict resolution, talent development, and employee relation matters.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor and resource for employees and managers on employee relations matters.
    • Create HR metrics, monitor trends, and adjust policies and procedures to achieve the university’s strategic objectives.
    • Facilitate employee accommodation and leave requests associated with the FMLA and ADA. Advise managers and employees on the interaction of various leave entitlements (FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, etc.) and the ADA.
    • Prepare and manage the university’s response to worker’s compensation, unemployment, and EEO claims. Represent the university at personnel-related hearings and investigations. Serve as the university’s representative personnel-related investigations and hearings.
    • Develop, initiate, and manage strategic planning initiatives for HR department and those assigned to HR department.
    • Oversee the planning and coordination of the new employee orientation/onboarding experience to foster positive attitude toward university goals.
    • Serve as Title IX Coordinator for the University.
    • Represent the Christian interests and opinions of the university in the development of human resource policies and processes.
    • Develop collegial, professional working relationships with university administration, faculty, and staff.
    • Coordinates management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment.
    • Conduct investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth in accordance with the university employee grievance process. Monitor and advise leaders in the progressive discipline system of the university. Monitor the implementation of a performance improvement process with non-performing employees.
    • Oversee the analysis, retention, and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies, or other departments in the university.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


    QUALIFICATIONS:
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have comprehensive knowledge of local state and federal employment regulations and law; excellent written and verbal communications skills; excellent oral presentation/public speaking skills in both large and small groups; excellent computer skills with proficiency in data management and human resource software and systems; excellent problems solving abilities and excellent leadership and management skills.     EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
    Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; masters strongly preferred. 7-10 years of successful experience as a Director, preferably in an educational environment. SPHR or PHR certification is preferred but not required.

    COMPUTER SKILLS:
    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of HR software; must be proficient in using Microsoft Office applications.
