Human Resources Director plans and oversees human resources functional operations, including talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, training, employee relations, safety, and compliance. Administers human resources programs and policies to reflect the organization's mission and values, support company goals, achieve objectives, and positively engage the workforce. Being a Human Resources Director maintains broad and current subject matter knowledge and expertise in federal and state employment laws to advise leadership with solutions for human resources issues and evolving organizational needs. Implements an HRIS or other system to facilitate processes and provide data and reporting on HR activity. Additionally, Human Resources Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Human Resources Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.     POSITION LOCATION: On campus position located in Fort Morgan, CO

    PURPOSE/SUMMARY OF JOB: The Director of Human Resources manages the leadership and day-to-day operations of the human resources department. This is a hands-on position requiring data entry as well as coordination of a comprehensive human resources program for the college in coordination with the Colorado Community College System (CCCS). Services include but are not limited to guiding and mentoring staff on human resources issues, hiring, separation and retirement processes, employee benefits, and employment contract processing. AA/EO, Title IX and other Federal legislative initiatives, including policy interpretation and implementation. Employee evaluation processes, conflict resolution and mediation, disciplinary actions, records retention, staff recognition, background checks, unemployment, and worker's compensation. May promote and represent the institution at campus, community, and/or system events, as well as through local and regional partnerships.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, public administration or related area from an accredited institution.
    • Three (3) years of comprehensive experience in human resources.
    • Department management experience including developing and implementing procedures.
    • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to build trust and work effectively with employees including experience with conflict resolution and mediation skills.
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills,
    • Ability to deal effectively and fairly with a variety of individuals in a courteous manner.
    • Payroll processing experience.
    • Ability to effectively multitask and prioritize workload.
    • Knowledge of and experience with AA/EO, FMLA, FLSA, and basic accounting principles.
    • Demonstrated computer skills and knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
    • Occasional long and irregular hours necessitated by special projects, compliance with deadlines, length of institutional day and week, and committee service.
    • Ability to travel out of town as required.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master's degree in business or related area.
    • Human Resources experience in higher education or for the State of Colorado.
    • HR certification such as PHR, SPHR or SHRM.
    • Experience with Banner software or other human resource software programs.
    • Experience with investigation, training, and/or compliance with Federal Title IX.

    Anticipated Start Date: May 2024

    Salary and Benefits:

    $75,800 to $87,170 based on education, skills and experience. Candidates with a Master's degree and/or additional years of experience may receive an extra $3,200 base increase. Benefits include health, life, dental and vision insurance, LTD & benefit package including tuition reimbursement in accordance with Colorado Community College and Occupational Education System policies. No relocation assistance is provided.
