Summary:
The HR Specialist will work as a member of the HR department in a rapidly changing, complex and fast-paced federal and commercial space environment and serves as support to multiple HR processes in the Tidewater group portfolio of businesses.
The position requires attention to detail and organization to process a high volume of work.
Position is in Juneau, Alaska. Successful candidate must be in Juneau or willing to relocate.

Minimum Qualifications:
- AA Degree in business, psychology, human resource management, or related field.
- One (1) to three (3) years of human resources experience.
- OR a combination of education and experience to successfully perform the duties of the position.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- SHRM-CP; SHRM-SCP; PHR or SPHR.
- ADP Workforce Now and Deltek experience.
- Previous experience working with Alaska Native Corporations (ANCs) and/or previous exposure to Alaska Native cultures.
- Previous government contracting experience.
Annual Compensation: $59,500 to $72,900.

Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Answers and assist employees with basic questions regarding their employment and Goldbelt’s policies and systems.
- Intake employee relations cases and correctly escalates employee discipline and employee relations issues to Senior HR Generalist.
- Assist with employee benefit questions and concerns. Assist with open enrollment by explaining benefits and any changes from previous year, assist employees with preparation of paperwork and answer questions.
- Develops a reputation as a neutral and approachable HR representative focused on employees, front and mid-level managers as well as the organization.
- Maintain legally compliant personnel documentation and records management.
- Maintains OSHA logs for companies under the Tidewater Group Portfolio.
- Help to manage Workers’ Compensation plan administration and claims. Audit support for worker’s comp, 401k.
- Assist with federal compliance reporting of VETS 4212, EEO1, ACA and AAP and OSHA.
- Can process job functions for Coordinator role in limited scope to support seasonal hiring at multiple companies.
- Provide back up support for onboarding and data entry.
- Serves as back up for Recruiting Coordinator, Onboarding, Data Entry, Offboarding and processing PANs.
Recruiting
- Post job descriptions on the career website and the Alaska Job Bank.
- Attend job fairs and career events.
- Create offer letters, make job offers and assist with new-employee background checks.
- Notify hiring manager when new employee is cleared to work.
- Tracks status of candidates in HRIS and responds with follow-up letters at the end of the recruiting process
- Become familiar with legal requirement associated with the hiring process.
- Performs customer service functions by answering questions from job applicants.
Onboarding
- Schedule new employees for Employee Orientation.
- Prepare new hire paperwork according to policies and procedures.
- Monitor processes for maintaining new employee paperwork and human resource records.
- Consult with hiring managers on staff requirements for seasonal employees.
- Set up employees in the seasonal electronic timekeeping system. Works with seasonal employees by providing guidance and direction on timekeeping issues.
- Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.
- Prepares new-employee files.
- Files documents into appropriate employee files.
- Makes photocopies; mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions.
- Assists or prepares correspondence as requested.
