We have an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Business Partner at our Freeport, TX location!
Overview: The Human Resources Business Partner is responsible for performing and supporting HR-related duties on a professional level. This position’s focus is in the following HR disciplines: employee relations, staffing management / talent acquisition, and organizational and employee development.
Responsibilities:
- Advocate for employer / employee relationship; employee relations liaison
- Communicates effectively with employees at all levels of the organization
- Creates and manages relationships to create a collaborative and solutions oriented environment
- Creates HR presence onsite; performs walkabouts, participates in shift team meetings, safety meetings, etc.
- Assists employees with personnel information and interpretation of HR policies and procedures; empowers appropriately
- Provides advice and counsel to managers and supervisors regarding HR practices, policies and employment laws
- Coordinates employee recognition programs
- Coordinates employee engagement activities, events, etc.
- Investigates complaints appropriately
- Coaches, counsels and guides supervisors and managers on employee disciplinary actions
- Tracks and monitors complaints and disciplinary actions
- Reports risk management issues to management as appropriate
- Participates in community meetings, functions, committees, events, etc.
- Facilitates talent acquisition; recruits, participates in job fairs, liaises with local college, tracks and screens applicants, coordinates assessments, interviews, generates offers, conducts onboarding and monitors onboarding progress for first 90 days
- Facilitates the separation process; conducts exit interviews
- Maintains organization charts, job descriptions, headcount reports and staffing KPI’s
- Maintains affirmative action program; files EEO-1 reports annually
- Drives performance management process
- Facilitates employee development
- Stewards the Leave Management process for all personnel
- Acts as a Change Agent; promotes HR initiatives
- Practices continuous improvement by identifying best practices, analyzing and trending data, diagnosing (determine root cause), and adjudicating issues; initiates corrective actions and ensures follow-up / closure to action items.
- Assists in developing and administering human resource programs, policies, procedures, laws, standards and regulations; operates as change agent
- Evaluates proposed projects and owns project management of non-routine HR activities; including identification of stakeholders, communication plans, implementation strategies, etc.
- Maintains effective level of business acumen regarding the business
- Generates monthly and annual reports as required, and ad-hoc reports as requested
- Participates in and responds to audits in all HR disciplines
- Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems
- Participates in administrative staff meetings and other meetings as required
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field and a minimum of 5 years experience in a Professional level Human Resources role is required.
- Previous experience in a chemical manufacturing environment is highly preferred.

Work Environment:
- Work is performed mostly in an office environment.
- Position requires on-site presence, remote work is not available.
- Facility is a chemical plant and occassionally requires incumbent to move about the facility, observing all required Safety protocols.
