The Rental Assistance Specialist will provide financial assistance through the HE System from the State of WI to eligible applicants in our 4 county service area. Following program policies, the Rental Assistance Specialist will review applications, determine eligibility according to program policies and procedures, issue payment to landlords as well as utility companies and make appropriate referrals to community supports as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

• Enter data in State HE System according to HE policies and procedures.
• Manage a case load of 20-40 applicants at one time.
• Provide follow-up to applicants to ensure they are aware of program deadlines and required program information necessary for application and assistance.
• Be highly organized and possess ability to create own system to manage many applications effectively and efficiently.
• Document all interactions, case notes and outcomes.
• Familiarity or ability to learn quickly and use google sheets.
• Display high degree of integrity, confidentiality and independence, but willingness to work within a team.

SUPPORTIVE HOUSING SUPPORT

From homelessness to supportive housing, Lakeshore CAP provides housing programs, support, and solutions to address the housing needs in our community. The Outreach Support position works with the Program Director and Outreach Coordinator as well as other local agencies to oversee all aspects of a system that prioritizes individuals and families experiencing homelessness for housing opportunities and programs that reduce barriers to housing. This includes providing technical assistance, coordinating, and participating in meetings pertinent to coordinated entry.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide front desk office hours, 20 hours per week to accept housing assistance applications and work with applicants to connect them to resources.
• Conduct required assessments to determine eligibility for Lakeshore CAP services, as well as assess for other emergency needs in a strength- based manner.
• Provide clients with information about community resources. Assist them in identifying and connecting to those that best match their preferences.
• Divert from homelessness when possible by connecting clients to other resources.
• Maintain database and file records and other documentation.
• Comply with all confidentiality requirements; regular supervision, agency staff meetings, training sessions, networking meetings and other events as directed.
• Maintain positive relationships with program recipients, service providers, volunteers, staff and community members.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance. Mileage for traveling to work-related events and meetings is reimbursed by the agency.

Applicants must be willing to complete a background check in accordance with local law and regulations.

Job Type: Full-time. This position will be 20 hours Rental Assistance Specialist and 20 hours Supportive Housing Support.
