    POSITION SUMMARY

    Housing Program Specialist will provide technical oversight and assist in coordination of daily activities with the housing staff. Assist in implementation of program goals and objectives. Ensure all housing quality control standards are maintained as required by HUD and the Bernalillo County Housing Department.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES SUMMARY

    1. Provide technical leadership, assistance and guidance to housing staff.
    2. Maintain housing program files; respond to public inquiries; provide information within the area of assignment and resolve complaints.
    3. Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; establish and implement policies and procedures.
    4. Monitor program performance of program assistants to ensure compliance with program standards.
    5. Provide direct support to adult clients in community living responsibilities, including performing conflict resolution, de-escalation, and trauma informed care.
    6. Plan and execute events and activities to facilitate community building among clients.
    7. Prepare periodic and summary reports on the housing program as required.
    8. Review and recommend housing program activities including, but not limited to, eligibility of participant waiting list, denial of participation of tenants and/or landlords, coordination of submission of purge list.
    9. Assist in reviewing and approving proposed termination letters for content and accuracy.
    10. Assist in providing instruction and job training to Section 8 and other program staff in a comprehensive and professional manner.
    11. Assist with employee performance evaluations.
    12. Assist in performing audits related to HUD and other grant compliance as well as internal and external audits.
    13. Perform Quality Control of Section 8 and other programs files.
    14. Assist in Reasonable Accommodation requests.
    15. Assists in handling and/or processing IPRA requests.
    16. Incumbent(s) in this classification may handle sensitive and/or confidential records, plans, documents or decisions that require maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. ?

    Minimum Qualifications

    1. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field, and one (1) year of work experience in housing related programs. Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above requirements.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    The offer of this Bernalillo County position requires compliance with the following:

    1. Employee must successfully complete the post-offer employment medical examination and background investigation.
    2. Employee must comply with the safety guidelines of the County.
    3. Employee must complete required FEMA training(s) as assigned to position.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    1. Most essential duties are performed indoors.
    2. Duties are performed in a temperature-controlled environment.
    3. Duties are performed on an even surface, which may be carpeted or tiled. Working surface is typically dry.
    4. Work is done primarily alone and can be done with a select team at times.

    EQUIPMENT, TOOLS AND MATERIALS

    1. Equipment typically used in the performance of office duties include telephone, computer terminal, computer printer, computer keyboard, photocopy machine, fax machine and calculator.
    2. Materials and products handled in the course of performing essential duties include files, forms, reports, various other paperwork, and a wide variety of basic office supplies.
