Hospice Supervisor jobs in Maine

Hospice Supervisor manages the resources, operations, and staff of hospice care programs. Works with families and patients to develop optimal care plans. Being a Hospice Supervisor coordinates the delivery of a patient/family assessment process and care plan development. Oversees interdisciplinary teams of medical doctors, nursing staff, and other care providers inside and outside the facility. Additionally, Hospice Supervisor maintains an up-to-date knowledge of laws and regulations of federal, state, and regulatory bodies relative to hospice care. May require a bachelor's degree in nursing, social work or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Hospice Supervisor manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Hospice Supervisor typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Gentiva Home Hospice is looking for a CNA to cover Kennebunk, Sanford and Wells, Maine, areas.

    As a Hospice Aide/ Certified Nursing Assistant, you will:

    • Report directly to the Administrator, Executive Director or Patient Care Manager Senior and function under the direction, instruction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or Clinical Supervisor.
    • Help the patient to maintain good personal hygiene.
    • Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
    • Prepare and serve light meals.
    • Assist in feeding patient when needed.
    • Assist the patient in ambulation.
    • Assist with the safe use of a walker or wheelchair as taught and supervised by the nurse.
    • Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as emptying trash and changing linens.
    • Assist with certain treatments as ordered on the aide plan of care and as allowable in state-specific regulations.
    • Attempt to promote patient’s mental alertness through involvement in activities of interest.
    • Give basic emotional and psychological support to the patient and other members of the household.
    • Report any change in the patient’s mental or physical condition or home situation to the Registered Nurse and members of the interdisciplinary team.
    • Demonstrate basic care to the primary caregiver.
    • Practice infection control measures and standard precautions.
    • Provide accurate documentation with visit itineraries
    • Attend staff meetings.
    • Participate in at least one Quality Improvement activity yearly, as assigned by supervisor.
    • Complete documentation in a timely manner as outlined in orientation.

     

    About You

    Hospice Aide/ CNA Requirements:

    • Hospice heart: compassionate, kind and empathetic to your patients and their families.
    • Comfortable providing care wherever the patient calls “home”.
    • Demonstrate flexibility and composure while supporting others in a time of crisis.
    • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
    • Six (6) months of patient care experience in hospice, home health, ICU, geriatric, or oncology strongly preferred.
    • Additional, preferred experience to help you be successful in a hospice role: hospital Staff RN, Med Surg, PACU, Float pool, ER or emergency room, critical care, acute care, cardiac, geriatric, admissions, wound care, telemetry, nursing home or travel.
    • Current driver’s license and automobile insurance.
    • Current CPR certification
