Hospice Director directs, supervises, and governs the hospice program including inpatient care, home care and bereavement follow-up. Administers and maintains quality assurance, environmental, and infection control policies in accordance with facility objectives. Being a Hospice Director prepares reports for hospital administration on activities of the facility operation. Develops hospice related educational and informational programs. Additionally, Hospice Director requires a bachelor's degree of nursing. Typically reports to top management. The Hospice Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Hospice Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8 am - 5 pm in office. On-call every other week including weekends.

    What You'll Do:

    • Ensures that care is provided in accordance with Medicare, Medicaid, Federal and state guidelines.
    • Ensures that all direct care clinical staff are assigned appropriately.
    • Monitors business operations to insure financial stability.
    • Monitors operational progress toward accomplishing operational and strategic goals.
    • Establishes and maintains effective, open channels of communication.
    • Ensures adequate and appropriate staffing and staff supervision.
    • Ensures complete, appropriate, and adequate staff development, including orientation, in-service, continuing education, competency testing and quality assessment performance improvement.
    • Responsible for the management of the hospice program in matters of clinical operation.
    • Demonstrates exceptional service to patients, families, referral sources, co-workers, and other customers. Assists team members as needed to ensure that this level of service is consistently provided.
    • Active participant in receiving case referrals. Reviews available patient information related to case, including home visits, to determine hospice/home care needs. Assigns appropriate hospice personnel to case as needed. Conferences with Medical Director regarding any questions about an individual's eligibility for services.
    • Ensures that Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) meetings are regularly conducted, and records maintained. Attends IDG meetings to facilitate coordination of care and discussion of interdisciplinary group involvement.

    Qualifications:

    • Graduate from an accredited registered nursing program. BSN preferred.
    • One year hospice experience required.
    • Two years healthcare management experience required.
    • Must have good knowledge of hospice Medicare, Medicaid, State and Federal guidelines.
    • Maintains a current CPR certification.
    • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order.
