This position is a key member of the Roughmill team, responsibilities include breaking down bunks into a single layer for the DC Edger, removes and collects tags, records bunk tag information, ensures a steady flow to the DC Edger, retrieves fallen boards and strips, straightens stacking strips as needed, communicates with DC Edger operator, coordinators, and production supervisor.
Position Responsibilities:
- Maintains a consistent flow of materials to the DC Edger.
- Assures that boards are in a single layer for the DC Edger.
- Assures that tags are removed, collected, and information recorded.
- Straightens strips in the strip cart as needed.
- Retrieves fallen boards or strips from behind the tilthoist.
- May be required to do other duties as requested by coordinator or supervisor.
Required QUALIFICATIONS AND Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic math skills.
- Able to read numbers and letters in sequential order.
- Must have knowledge of and work in a safe manner.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must be able to wear proper personal protective equipment.
- Must be able to see clearly up to 50 feet for 10 hours.
- Must be able to grasp, lift, and pull boards with up to 50 lbs. of force with both handsfor 10 hours at 2-3 hour intervals.
- Must be able to visually recognize layers on tilthoist and landing chains.
- Must be able to safely operate tools, material, and equipment.
- Must be able to stand for up to 10 hours in intervals of 3 hours or more.
- Must be able to read, write, and complete bunk tag documentation.
- Must be able to hear up to 50 feet.
- Must be able to adequately communicate to Supervisor, and Co-Workers any equipment issues.
- Must have full articulation with torso and both arms.
- Must be able to navigate work area with uneven walking surfaces.
- Must be able to navigate 5-6 stairs as needed.
- Must be able to perform awkward body positions when stacking/unstacking boards, retrieving stacking sticks, or doing other job related tasks as needed.
