Histology Technologist performs complex histological procedures used to prepare specimens of tissue for examination and analysis by a Pathologist. Performs grossing, processing, embedding, microtomy, and both routine and multiple staining of samples. Being a Histology Technologist performs quality control on completed slides. Identifies problems that may affect diagnosis and results. Additionally, Histology Technologist records observations from tests. Documents maintenance of instruments and equipment used in the lab. Complies with established laboratory policies for universal precautions and safety. Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically requires completion of an accredited histotechnology program. Requires ASCP Histotechnologist certification (HTL). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Histology Technologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Busy medical office/physician practice/surgery center seeking histology technician.
We are looking for a highly motivated person willing to learn how to do histology laboratory work. The applicant has to be a team player with a positive attitude, and be willing to learn. Hours for this position could vary based on workload in the laboratory. Certification a plus!
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to in the Histology Laboratory:
Working towards an Assoc. degree in medical laboratory technology, chemical sciences or biological sciences OR
60 college hours including 24 hours of medical laboratory technology OR 24 hours of sciences that include 6 hours of chemistry, 6 hours of biology and 12 hours of chemistry/biology/medical laboratory technology in any combination.
