The Kitchen Helper will work closely with the Kitchen Supervisor to support various tasks involved in food preparation and kitchen operations. The ideal candidate should have a keen attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions accurately and be comfortable working in a fast-paced food environment. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the efficient and smooth operation of our kitchen.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Kitchen Supervisor in preparing for the next day's production by organizing ingredients storage, ensuring proper thawing of meats, and setting up workstations.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to load and cook meats and ingredients in steam kettles, following established recipes and cooking procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including regular disposal of trash and waste, to ensure a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.
- Read recipes accurately, measure ingredients, and operate steam kettles while adhering to safety guidelines, especially when working around steam and hot surfaces.
- Lift and carry boxes weighing up to 50 pounds to shoulder height, ensuring proper lifting techniques are employed to prevent injuries.
- Follow company policies, rules, and standard operating procedures to maintain consistency and quality in food preparation.
- Contribute to a positive team atmosphere by communicating effectively with colleagues and working collaboratively to achieve daily kitchen goals.
- Assist in various tasks as needed, which may include dishwashing, ingredient preparation, and general kitchen maintenance.
- High school diploma or equivalent; culinary education or training is a plus.
- Prior experience in a kitchen environment or food service industry is beneficial.
- Ability to read and understand recipes, measurements, and cooking instructions.
- Comfortable working around steam and hot surfaces in a fast-paced kitchen setting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Physical ability to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 50 pounds to shoulder height.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Adherence to food safety and sanitation standards.
- Willingness to follow instructions and guidelines closely.
- Flexibility to work Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
