Being a Helper- Brick and Stone Mason may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Helper- Brick and Stone Mason relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Job Overview
Maintains masonry structures and related masonry work. Services performed include all standard masonry work including brick work, concrete block, poured concrete and ceramic tile. Performs general carpentry work as assigned and in connection with masonry duties. Perform journey level maintenance and repairs in accordance with industry/trade practices. Performs assignments in response to requests for service, scheduled preventive maintenance inspections and unscheduled or special projects. Incumbents use all standard tools, equipment, materials and supplies of the trade and observe all safety rules, regulations and precautions in performing duties.
Work Interactions
This position reports directly to the Building and Structures Supervisor along with two roofer/sheet metal mechanics, 3 locksmiths, 3 carpenters and a trades helper. Incumbent will work with tradesmen of other areas within the department to complete assigned tasks as necessary. The work performed provides a direct service to the department to ensure a comfortable, safe and clean environment in which the University can live, learn and work.

Requirements and Qualifications
Academic Level: High School
Degree Program (list): High school diploma or GED required.
Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certification:
Completion of apprenticeship or equivalent training in the mason trade required.
Valid driver license required.
