Help Desk Support Assistant responds to end-user requests for technical assistance by phone, email, or ticketing system. Troubleshoots and resolves basic computer, application, system, device, access, or performance issues. Being a Help Desk Support Assistant uses established processes and procedures to document, track, and resolve reported problems and to meet operational service levels and standards. Utilizes product information or solution database to research, troubleshoot, and deliver solutions. Additionally, Help Desk Support Assistant advises users on the methods, steps, and actions to resolve and avoid future issues and provides documentation as needed. Escalates problems to appropriate levels or teams to achieve issue resolution. May support installs or upgrades of software or devices, set up user profiles, or re-set passwords. Fulfills all service level standards for response time and quality. May require an associate degree. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Help Desk Support Assistant works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.     The IT Help Desk Tech I role at Melaleuca Headquarters serves on a team of Help Desk professionals working to provide world-class Help Desk support to Melaleuca employees.

    This position receives reports of technical problems and requests for services by phone, email and walk-up from Melaleuca employees.

    In this role you will resolve these issues on first contact by troubleshooting and restoring service or providing access and instruction.

    For technical issues that cannot be resolved by the IT Help Desk Technician I, next level IT support teams are engaged for additional troubleshooting and resolution.

    The Help Desk provides physical desk side support at the Headquarters building and at other Melaleuca facilities in addition to providing services including account management, Asset Procurement / Management, System Builds, Cell Phone provision and support, IP Phone management and support, Incident Management, Multimedia Conference room support and a wide variety of other support services as needed.

    A Help Desk I technician will have a solid technical aptitude for resolving and supporting issues related to Windows / Mac, hardware, software, network, servers, and Active Directory.

    Responsibilities

    • Receives and processes Melaleuca employee IT requests via phone, email and walk-up providing both physical desk side support and remote support as required.
    • Relies on personal technical expertise and established Melaleuca IT Help Desk processes to troubleshoot and support all hardware, software, and in-house applications within the Melaleuca environment
    • Monitors systems and performance alarms, troubleshoots, and escalates as appropriate
    • Creates and maintains user accounts / profiles for domain and in-house applications
    • Provides system quotes and assists in hardware / software purchasing requests
    • Documents and tracks all incidents / service requests
    • Documents and maintains knowledge articles
    • Maintains asset database as part of daily activity and drives quarterly asset audits for assigned groups
    • Maintains performance levels within established metrics and adheres to established service level requirements
    • Follows procedural guidelines to ensure consistency and outstanding service delivery

    Qualifications

    • Excellent customer services skills
    • Ability to maintain and work with confidential information
    • Experienced in troubleshooting strategies, methods and procedures
    • Can adhere to and follow instructions given to by Team Lead or Manager
    • Thorough understanding of Microsoft Windows operating systems, specifically Windows 11
    • Experience troubleshooting and supporting hardware and software
    • Experience troubleshooting and supporting Microsoft Office
    • Experience troubleshooting and supporting Microsoft Outlook
    • Strong knowledge of computer hardware either through building computers or troubleshooting hardware problems
    • Basic understanding of server structures and Active Directory
    • Basic understanding of network software, hardware and services
    • Basic understanding of security protocols including authentication, permissions, etc.
