Help Desk Manager manages the staff and operations of an organization's technical help desk. Ensures team members are trained and coached on effective methods to research, troubleshoot, deliver solutions, and access the current product or technical updates. Being a Help Desk Manager trains the team on the help desk systems and tools to identify, document, track, and resolve reported problems. Identifies and gathers key metrics to analyze the help desk performance and identify problem areas. Additionally, Help Desk Manager monitors and measures service metrics and volume to develop standards, improvements, or changes to workflows and resource allocation. Acts as an escalation point and facilitator for severe, critical, or unique issues. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Help Desk Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Help Desk Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Under general supervision, the Help Desk Technician will provide first-tier support to end-users for PC, server, mainframe applications and hardware. This individual will address tickets based on arrival and priority level. They will create tickets for issues that are called in, emailed, direct messaged and/or presented in person. The Help Desk Technician will interact with the IT Clinical Operations Specialist, System Administrator and Director as necessary, to restore service and/or identify and correct problems. This individual may simulate or recreate user problems to resolve operating difficulties. They will recommend systems modifications to reduce user problems. The Help Desk Technician will maintain currency and high level of technical skill in field of expertise. This individual will escalate more complex problems to the IT Clinical Operations Specialist, System Administrator and Director.

    None

    Position Responsibilities:
    • Manage ticketing system, software installation, and configurations.
    • Perform technical, operational, and training support to users by telephone.
    • Install and test personal computers, printers, and other peripherals, configure operating system, load shrink-wrap programs and other application software programs.
    • Troubleshoot printer, computer, and peripheral incidents, perform hardware and software diagnostics, coordinate needed repairs, resolve computer system problems, including coordination between users and components of a local area network, and participate in the evaluation of system configuration and software.

    Position Requirements:


    • Manage trouble tickets in a timely manner.
    • Respond to user issues via phone, email, and computer chat.
    • Provide user assistance.
    • Document user interactions.
    • Run diagnostics to resolve user reported issues.
    • Install, make changes, and repair computer hardware and software.
    • Follow-up with users to ensure issues are resolved.
    • Support users in a remote help desk environment.
    • Knowledgeable of Multifunction Devices (Printer/Scanner/Fax).
    • Knowledgeable of Microsoft Windows Operating System and applications.
    • Knowledge of basic Networking Technologies.
    • Escalate issues to the next Tier with next level of difficulty.
    • Strong analytical and follow through skill.
    • Ability to work well independently on defined tasks.
    • Keyboarding (45wpm)
    • Well organized, systematic, prompt.
    • Able to quickly build and maintain rapport with staff members of differing backgrounds.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, concisely with others (internal and external customers, both verbally and in writing), consistently demonstrate positive/proactive customer service attitude.
    • Consistently maintains ethical behaviors exemplary of quality public service and fair standards, inclusivity, among all employees and members of the public.
    • Ability to work as an effective team member; function independently, exercise sound judgment and initiative; be flexible to shift priorities; maintain confidentiality; establish and maintain effective interpersonal work relationships.
    • Ability to follow NHC Clinic practice guidelines – including adherence to the NHC immunization policy, the NHC Mission and Vision along with NHC Corporate Compliance Policy.
    • Ability to receive constructive feedback.

    Education and/or Experience:


    • High School diploma or equivalent, required
    • Familiarity with medical terminology is desired
    • 1-2 years of Help Desk Customer Service experience
    License and / or Certification:
    • Valid North Dakota Driver’s License
    • Current Immunization Records
    • Current PPD

    Appearance Standards: This position shall follow the appearance standards as outlined in the NHC Personnel Appearance Policy.

    While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The employee may experience exposure to dust, pollens, pollutants, fumes, and communicable diseases as related to the health care environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
