Heavy Equipment Operator operates heavy equipment or machinery, such as a tractor, bulldozer, backhoe, or excavator, for the purposes of construction, demolition, or excavation. Prepares equipment and conducts routine inspections prior to operation to ensure it is safe and in working condition. Being a Heavy Equipment Operator identifies and addresses potential hazards and adheres to all safety protocols and regulations. May be responsible for scheduling minor repairs and conducting routine maintenance like cleaning and lubricating. Additionally, Heavy Equipment Operator requires a high school diploma. May require State License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Heavy Equipment Operator independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors. RDR is seeking Equipment Operators to round out our Underground Utility and Erosion Control divisions.
Currently seeking heavy equipment operators for various projects across West Virginia.
Job Summary:
Operators will report directly to their RDR supervisor.
· Able to work outside in varying weather conditions.
· Able to lift - up to 75 lbs., stand for long periods of time, walk, squat, crouch.
· Able to work up to and at times greater than 12 hour days
Preferred experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience operating an excavator and/or dozer preferred.
Highly seeking those comfortable working on steep terrain and winching experience preferred.
Previous underground utility experience preferred.
Familiar with working on live gas lines preferred.
Familiar with the installation of gas mains and service connections preferred.
Operators must be willing to assist with labor work when needed.
