Heavy Equipment Operator jobs in Connecticut

Heavy Equipment Operator operates heavy equipment or machinery, such as a tractor, bulldozer, backhoe, or excavator, for the purposes of construction, demolition, or excavation. Prepares equipment and conducts routine inspections prior to operation to ensure it is safe and in working condition. Being a Heavy Equipment Operator identifies and addresses potential hazards and adheres to all safety protocols and regulations. May be responsible for scheduling minor repairs and conducting routine maintenance like cleaning and lubricating. Additionally, Heavy Equipment Operator requires a high school diploma. May require State License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Heavy Equipment Operator independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors.     POSITION: HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

    GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Operating heavy equipment, owned, rented or leased by Verdi, in a safe, professional and productive manner.

    2. Managing and overseeing the proper installation of various products

    Including drainage systems, piping systems, precast concrete, earth materials, cast-in-place concrete, erosion control, temporary protection, etc. in accordance with accepted industry standards.

    3. Reviewing and interpreting plans and contract documents and lay out work as required to maintain progress of project(s) and task(s) at hand.

    4. Participating in tasks, other than operating equipment as required to maintain progress of project(s) and task(s) at hand.

    5. Discuss construction means and methods.
