Heavy Assembler assembles fabricated parts to large or heavy subassemblies and completes units. Fits, tests, and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications. Being a Heavy Assembler conducts welding, riveting, and trimming of parts to fit or align components. Uses hand and power tools, jigs, fixtures, and other assembly equipment. Additionally, Heavy Assembler typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Heavy Assembler works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. To assemble and to test all assigned product families for the Business Unit or for the manufacturing dept. (e.g. Heavy Products: screens and magnetic or mechanical feeders; UG terminal equipment, screw conveyors, bucket elevators, etc.) and to assure conformity to specifications. Facilitates the use of resources to improve manufacturability and quality in a cost effective manner. Assists in analysis identification of root causes and correction of non-conformities.
