The Assembler will be responsible for assembly, testing, and verification of complex mechanical systems.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Positions, aligns, fits, and welds parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications, and using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools.
- Drills, countersinks, reams, and taps holes according to blueprints.
- Verifies conformance of workpieces to specifications, using basic measuring tools.
- Tack-weld fitted parts together.
- Lay out and examine metal stock or workpieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met.
- Aligns and fits parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers.
- Locates and marks workpiece bending and cutting lines, allowing for stock thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and other component specifications.
- Positions or tightens braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, or bolt straps, or bolt parts in position for welding or riveting.
- Studies engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and task sequences.
- Uses all cranes, hoists, lifting and safety equipment according to safety requirements and industry best practices.
- Reviews, understands, and completes all required documentation that accompanies work assignments (including travelers/data packages)
- Inspects quality of work of self and others.
- Possesses a dedicated work ethic to expedite all assigned tasks through the department within the guidelines of the Quality Policy and Quality Procedures.
- Maintains a clean, organized work environment through weekly and daily 5-S activities.
- Performs assigned jobs efficiently, with minimal errors and high-quality workmanship.
- Communicates defects, issues, and concerns with supervisor; seeks guidance/instruction as needed.
- Works individually or as a team; willing to cross-train as necessary.
Requirements:
- 5 years’ experience in a metal contract manufacturing environment (preferably for US Government Prime contractors) or custom industrial equipment manufacturing.
- Proficient in Pulse / Pulse Aluminum MIG 4043 or 5356 filler.
- Rivet, Keencert and Helicoil installation experience.
- Ability to read/follow complex blueprints, layouts, drawings, and instructions (written and verbal).
- Experience working in an AS9100 regulated environment.
- Knowledge of Geometric Tolerancing, (ANSI-Y 14.5) drawing interpretation and shop math.
- Must have, or acquire and maintain all required hand tools and measuring tools to support departmental work assignments.
- Must be able to perform accurate, repetitive, and steady work with minimal errors.
- Basic math skills required.
- Basic Microsoft office applications
- High School or GED Diploma required
Preferred:
- Vocational training is a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50lbs. unassisted, must be able to push, pull, sit, stand, and bend up to 8 hours per day uninterrupted.
- Overtime as required to meet customer and project goals.
