Heavy Assembler assembles fabricated parts to large or heavy subassemblies and completes units. Fits, tests, and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications. Being a Heavy Assembler conducts welding, riveting, and trimming of parts to fit or align components. Uses hand and power tools, jigs, fixtures, and other assembly equipment. Additionally, Heavy Assembler typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Heavy Assembler works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. The purpose of the Assembler position is to build, configure, assemble and/or package electrical, sprinkler, or irrigation component parts into subassemblies and finished products for irrigation systems.
An Assembler is a new or existing employee who has not been fully trained or demonstrated proficiency in specific skill areas and/or on specific machinery. These are employees who are placed in on the job training roles and who will remain as Assemblers in Training until predetermined proficiencies are achieved within the Assembly department.
