Heavy Assembler assembles fabricated parts to large or heavy subassemblies and completes units. Fits, tests, and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications. Being a Heavy Assembler conducts welding, riveting, and trimming of parts to fit or align components. Uses hand and power tools, jigs, fixtures, and other assembly equipment. Additionally, Heavy Assembler typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Heavy Assembler works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Under direct supervision, performs one or more repetitive jobs on an assembly or sub-assembly line to produce building material components or millwork products.
Assembles building material components such as wall panels, roof and floor trusses and / or millwork products such as doors, windows, cabinets, counters, vanities or closets.
Processes include insertion or positioning of materials, clamping, splicing, fitting parts and use of both hand and power tools.
Knowledge of and ability to use a variety of hand and power tools to assemble either building materials components or millwork products.
