Being a Healthcare Service Line Director requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to top management.     The Healthcare Facilities Maintenance Director/Safety Officer supervises, directs, or assists in the performance of repairs and replacement/installations related to the buildings, grounds and physical plant of the Hospital and associated buildings; other key organizational and departmental initiatives; as well as the leadership oversight of assigned departments and projects. Develops and implements appropriate plans to productively move assigned efforts forward; tracks, monitors and reports results of efforts to ensure accountability. Supports, coaches and mentors staff and other leaders to improve organizational understanding and related performance.

    Essential Duties >>>

    • Serves as the Hospital’s Safety Officer and EOC Chairperson.
    • Inspects projects and repairs to ensure the Hospital’s compliance with all governmental and The Joint Commission requirements.
    • Assists or manages small Hospital projects completed by maintenance, and/or contractors.
    • Follows The Joint Commission Standards, Federal and State regulatory requirements, the company’s policies and programs and holds staff accountable to know the same.
    • Responsible for Facilities Department budget and reporting.
    • Provides leadership oversight for assigned departments and projects.
    • Develops, reviews and updates related policies and procedures to guide key organizational activities.
    • Actively involved in moving assigned projects forward using standardized tools and methods.
    • Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing learning and growth as a leader; and a commitment to coaching others into their highest levels of performance.

    • Aligns actions with organizational systems, processes and values.
    • Accountable for accurate and timely follow up with assigned projects and tasks.

    • Ability to function independently and work effectively with staff, medical staff, vendors, contractors and support agencies.
    • Ability to read, write, and speak English efficiently to perform duties of the position.
    • Possess flexibility and ability to maintain regular predictable attendance and punctuality and work extended hours as needed.
    • Possess the ability to deal tactfully and responsibly with hospital personnel, patients, family members, physicians, visitors, government agencies / personnel and the general public.
    • Possess a thorough knowledge of Joint Commission, NFPA, OSHA, and all government codes and regulations.
    • Ability to read, understand and follow electro/mechanical and building schematic diagrams and blueprints.
    • Demonstrate computer proficiency in using programs, word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
    • Demonstrates the ability to prepare and maintain the proper activities, files, and processes to meet the standards of the foregoing regulations with acceptable results.
    • Ability to make independent decisions, problem solve, and analyze quantitative information.
    • Ability to exercise good judgment, logic and reasoning, attention to detail, and agility with respect to the nuances of complex and dynamic human interactions in carrying out job duties.
    • Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of advanced organizational leadership skills and principles.

    High school education or equivalent.

    CHEP/CHFM preferred

    Qualifications >>>

    • 5-7 years of experience in facilities/maintenance/plant operations.
      • Prior hospital/healthcare experience is required!
    • Five (5) years managerial experience.
    • Demonstrated career progression of expanded leadership responsibilities.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Office.
