      Stipend Salary: $5,000 per Season (Fall, Winter, Spring) $3,000 Summer

      GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
      The Athletic Director is designated by the principal to be in charge of the Nestucca High School athletic program as well as supporting our school culture through intentional culture development and student management. The Athletic Director is responsible to the principal and shall supervise the administration of the general policies of the school, district and the OSAA as they pertain to interscholastic athletics. Additionally, the Athletic Director will serve as a resource to staff and parents in developing behavior and/or attendance expectations for students.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
      • Build a culture that fosters a belief that athletics activities are a way for students to connect to each other and Nestucca High School
      • Be responsible for interpreting and seeing that the policies and procedures of the athletic program are carried out
      • Take direction from administrative team and implement in athletic programs
      • Work with the principal on problems pertaining to the athletic program
      • Organize and oversee regular training sessions to reinforce the philosophy and conduct requirements
      • Control and authorize the purchase of athletic equipment and supplies through the proper channels
      • Plan, with the coach, the schedules for each sport season
      • Arrange for transportation for athletic teams making trips
      • Supervise and evaluate all coaches in collaboration with the building principal and mentor all coaches in the athletic program on a consistent basis
      • Assist in managing school-wide student supervision and enforcing behavioral expectations.
      • While consulting with the school administrators, issue consequences for students who do not follow expectations.
      • Counsel students and parents about school and district policies.
      • Assist staff and parents in developing student behavioral expectations.
      • Act as a resource, advocate and support for all school staff and students.
      • Assist in developing/monitoring programs to promote positive student behavior.
      • Assist in supervision of students during co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, inclusive of evening events.
      • Assist in supervision of spectators during co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
      • Maintain accurate records.
      • Communicate with parents regarding behavior issues with their child.
      • Communicate efficiently, timely and clearly to all stakeholders.

      GENERAL PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: All personnel involved in the Nestucca Valley School District’s High School Athletic Program are expected to be familiar with and abide by the following Code of Ethics enacted by the District and applicable to state and federal laws.
      • Effectively implement the District High School Athletic Program according to established regulations, procedures, policy and work rules
      • Model appropriate adult behavior, sportsmanship and leadership
      • Participate in clinics and professional growth opportunities
      • Treat all participants of the inter-scholastic program with dignity and respect; i.e. students, coaches, parents, administration, spectators and officials
      • Exhibit and encourage support and pride in all athletic programs conducted by Nestucca High School, and the participants
      • Teach and enforce the local and state rules of eligibility, athletic and activities codes, procedures and other relevant district and state policies
      • Develop, maintain, implement and evaluate sound program goals, training plans, practices and procedures
      • Maintain a current knowledge of and abide by the current rules governing inter-scholastic athletes
      • Maintain effective communications with school and district administration, teachers, booster clubs, media and community organizations
      • Demonstrate loyalty to staff and programs within the District through cooperation, communication and the encouragement of multi-sport athletes and multi-curricular activities.
      • Communicate with maintenance, coaches and administrators to ensure proper event set up and staffing.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.       • A current Oregon teaching license
      • Five years of teaching experience, with increasing levels of responsibilities in a school setting
      • Knowledge of adolescents
      • Knowledge of attendance and discipline procedures, building and school policies
      • Ability to maintain confidentiality of schools, teachers and students
      • Effective communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills
      • Ability to make independent judgments.
      • Ability to develop relationships with others by listening, understanding and reserving judgment
      • Ability to model characteristics of a reflective professional who monitors and evaluates one’s own professional activities with the goal of continual growth and development
      • Knowledge of best practices and Oregon law relating to student behavior
      • Knowledge of OSAA requirements and procedures.
      • Experience in monitoring and supervising students in the educational setting
      • Cultural sensitivity and awareness
      • Ability to support school staff and coaches in development of student management protocols
