Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Officer for a large construction jobsite in VA Beach, VA. The Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with VOSH and OSHA safety regulations as well as the owner's and general contractors safety programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction jobsite safety supervision
Duties:
- Work with jobsite superintendents and safety team to insure adherence to safe practices every day.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and implement preventive measures
- Provide safety orientation to contractor and subcontractor employees.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and orientation sessions
- Oversee safety aspects of complex and multiple jobsite construction activities.
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Safety Officer or similar role
- In-depth knowledge of construction jobsite principles and practices
- Familiarity with construction management software for tracking safety metrics
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety (EHS) standards, OSHA regulations, and NEC codes
- Experience in compliance management related to safety regulations
- Experience with steel erection, fall protection, crane & rigging safety required
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Bilingual (English and Spanish) not required but will be a plus
