Health Underwriting Manager manages the health insurance underwriting program for individuals and/or groups for medical and/or dental insurance. Ensures integrity of underwriting activities and processes. Being a Health Underwriting Manager participates in the development of master policies and other official documents. Verifies that the account contracts are in compliance with government regulations. Additionally, Health Underwriting Manager typically is a RN with clinical experience. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Health Underwriting Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Health Underwriting Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. As a Worker's Compensation Underwriting Manager, you will play a pivotal role in developing continual and growing sources of profitable workers' compensation and occupational accident business associated with commercial trucking operations across the country.
In this leadership role you will be responsible for overseeing a team of underwriters while developing valuable relationships with agents and insureds to make certain that premier underwriting services are provided. You will also have exposure to Old Republic International and their senior leaders.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead a team of underwriters while providing guidance and support.
Develop and implement underwriting strategies aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices.
Review and evaluate underwriting submissions while analyzing operational risks associated.
Work closely with agents, customers, and internal stakeholders to maintain relationships and provide exceptional service and support.
Ensure compliance with state regulations, industry standards, and company policies in all underwriting activities.
Continuously monitor and update underwriting guidelines based on industry trends and emerging risks.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Risk Management, or a related field.
10 years of professional experience in insurance underwriting with an emphasis in Worker's Compensation and/or Occupational Accident preferred.
Previous leadership or management experience required.
Strong knowledge of insurance regulations, policies, and industry best practices.
Knowledge of the motor carrier industry is a plus.
Location: Corporate Office in South Sioux City, Nebraska
