    As the Health Care Specialist at Camp Ta-Man-a-Wis, you will administer oversight for health care needs for our summer camp program.


    Using guidance from the CDC, American Camp Association, Girl Scouts of the USA, and local health districts we are taking every precaution, including property improvements and updated sanitation procedures, to keep everyone healthy and safe.

    We are looking for passionate camp staff whoare committedto the safety of our camp staff and girls and who can adhere to our strict health and safety protocols.

    This position includes room and board for the length of employment.

    Responsibilities:
    Oversee the implementation of our health care policies and procedures in compliance with the American Camp Association accreditation standards.

    With the Camp Director make key decisions about camp response to any emergencies or crises.


    With the Camp Director, continually monitor health and safety guidance from the local health department, CDC, American Camp Association, and Girl Scouts of the USA.

    Update and adjust health care procedures to ensure alignment of camp protocols with the most-up-to-date health and safety COVID-19 guidance.

    Oversee the implementation of the Communicable Disease Plan.

    Oversee training of all staff regarding our health care policies and procedures.

    Attend to sick and injured campers and staff.

    Receive all camper medications at check-in and inquire about medical history and allergies. Maintain camper medications. Dispense camper medications at mealtimes, bedtime and as directed on camper health forms. Return medications to parents at check-out.

    Maintain medical records including medications given to campers and first aid care given.

    Communicate with parents/guardians regarding camper health issues.

    Complete appropriate incident reports.

    Maintain necessary medical supplies including first aid kits.

    Ability to go without electronic devices while at camp (excluding medical necessary devices). Camp has no electricity at night.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Skills/ Qualifications:
    Must be at least 21 years old.

    Supervisory experience required.

    Must have medical certification. Registered Nurse certification or higher is strongly preferred.

    Wilderness First Responder, Wilderness First Aid or experience with wilderness medicine preferred.

    Ability to administer and chart medications.

    Responsible and dependable.

    Enjoys working with children.

    Must feel comfortable living in a rustic camp environment with very limited access to cell phone, electricity, and internet.

    Experience with the Girl Scout program is preferred.

    Member of the Association of Camp Nursing preferred.

    Willing to work long hours.

    Works well independently and asks for assistance when needed.

    Is a dynamic leader.

    *Glamp employment will be as general staff at $80 per day. Duties will vary. Glamp is the adult women's camp experience fund raising weekend.
