Health Information Services Director directs and oversees all policies and procedures related to healthcare information management. Responsible for ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the medical records and transcription departments. Being a Health Information Services Director reviews processes and identifies areas for improvement taking into account user needs. May act as liaison between information services and technology department, ensuring that systems are accessible and in accordance with the needs of the organization. Additionally, Health Information Services Director ensures that all record keeping and information disbursement complies with HIPAA regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, a related field, or equivalent. Typically reports to senior management. The Health Information Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. - Organize and maintain patient medical records in a timely and accurate manner
- Ensure all medical records are properly filed and stored securely
- Retrieve medical records for healthcare professionals and patients as requested
- Review medical records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulations
- Scan and digitize paper records into electronic systems
- Assist with data entry and updating patient information in electronic health record systems
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working with medical records or in a medical office setting preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus
- Proficient computer skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion
