    General Summary:

    The Clinical Informatics Specialist (CIS) is responsible for participating in the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of assigned Clinical Information Systems across the system. The CIS works to optimize the clinical design to meet the needs of a large group of interdisciplinary end users, including physicians, nurses, respiratory care practitioners, ancillary, clinical and administrative staff. The CIS will participate in the integration of the clinical teams supporting clinical applications through establishment of standards, methodologies and workflow transformation. Participates in the design of the clinical application education program and is responsible for the accuracy of the training content. Uses a system focus to contribute to clinical process discussions and works to achieve system-wide consensus.

    Requirements:

    • Minimum of two years working in a clinical setting preferred
    • 3 to 5 years’ experience implementing clinical information systems and/or advanced computer skills preferred.
    • Must have high school diploma
    • Associate or bachelor degree preferred.
    • Must have at least one Epic certification or obtain Epic certification within 6 months of employment.
    • Must be able to exhibit excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all work products, ensuring project documentation is up to date and distributed to all key stakeholders.
    • Must have the ability to communicate technical issues to nontechnical audiences.
    • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of redesigning clinical processes to improve efficiency and patient care, preferably in conjunction with the implementation of a clinical information system.
    • Must be able to demonstrate well developed and proven organizational, problem solving, analytical, customer service and oral and written communication skills.
    • Must be able to function in a dynamic environment subject to impromptu changes in schedules and priorities.
    • Must be able to work on multiple projects concurrently.
    • Must be recognized as a formal or informal leader by their peers.
    • Must have the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships and to interact positively and productively with teams across organizational lines, including administrative and executive staff.
    • Must displays strong initiative- can establish personal goals and take responsibility for meeting them within defined timelines.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    • Functions as a clinical informatics system expert, including but not limited to, technical building of the clinical system through data entry.
    • Collaborates with hospital leadership, clinical informatics manager, physician liaisons, and IT leadership to optimize clinical systems and processes to promote efficient, cost effective and meaningful use of the electronic health system
    • Participates in the development of clinical informatics protocols, policies, procedures, and quality metrics; and works to assure compliance with regulations.
    • Perform analysis and contribute to the reengineering of intermediate workflows and identify opportunities for system enhancement and optimization utilizing identified change management process.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to project team and prioritize scheduled tasks to maintain project scope.
    • Understands and articulates the connection and links between and throughout department work related to Epic and other clinical applications.
    • Coordinate with Epic and technical personnel to troubleshoot, maintain, and implement intermediate and enterprise-wide infrastructure technologies.
    • Review new software releases and updates to determine which features will be utilized.
    • Prioritize enhancement and system change requests
    • 2nd tier application support for the clinical community, serving as the escalation point for system issues.
