Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) has an opening for an IT Manager in our IT-Informatics Data Operations area.
The IT Manager I - Informatics Data Operations will have production support oversight responsibilities for the Managed Service Provider (MSP) as a focus.
About the Role
This IT Manager I opportunity will involve the following duties:
- Day-to-day operations oversight
- Direction/Prioritization when issues arise
- High Severity Impacts Communication to leadership
- Escalation Prevention, Resolution, and Communication to IT Leadership and Business
- Problem resolution
- Metric Review/Presentation
- Job Run Approvals
- Process Improvements
- Data Alert Communication
- UAT Approvals where there is only IT Impact (i.e. query tuning, Stonebranch dependencies)
- After hours support/coordination when needed
- Technical Application Owner (TAO) for iServer Assets
- RCA review and resolution where necessary
It will also include the following:
- Strategic Planning: Participate in departmental planning for continuous improvement to processes and standards to reduce production issues, gaps and improve issue resolution SLAs.
- Metric Review and Refinement: Presentation and continual improvement of the Data Operations metrics to identify trends, gaps, and process improvements. This will include SLA adherence for data processing and delivery.
- Tooling and Automation: Work with the MSP to identify, implement, and manage tools that will automate the day-to-day job monitoring and communication with IT and Business data users.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., SOC, HIPAA, MAR ) and lead efforts to pass security audits and assessments.
- Incident Response: Develop and maintain an incident response plan and coordinate incident response efforts when necessary.
- Collaboration: Foster collaboration between development, operations, and other IT departments to facilitate communication, process gap reduction, and issue resolution.
- Monitoring and Alerting: Work with the MSP to identify and communicate production issues with Tier 1 and Tier 2 job domains. Proactive communication with IT leadership and business stakeholders on recovery resolution, timeframe, and status.
- Documentation: Maintain documentation related to policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Additional aspects/functions of this role may include:
- Plan, organize, direct and control, and lead assigned functional area and ensure its alignment with business objectives.
- Operate within broad objectives to ensure optimum utilization of capital, staffing and equipment.
- Oversee the development of corporate standards, technology architecture, technology evaluation and transfer.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in related field required.
- Seven (7) years of relevant IT and business/industry work experience required.
- Experience in supervising and building relationships with people at all levels required.
