Health Informatics Director directs an organization's clinical biostatistics or health informatics department. Oversees the analysis, management and performance of health information data to aid patient care. Being a Health Informatics Director monitors latest software and technology to keep processes up-to-date and efficient. Communicates with other departments and team members to identify new sources of data, ensure data is used effectively, and establish new initiatives. Additionally, Health Informatics Director requires a master's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Health Informatics Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Health Informatics Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • The IU Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering at IU Indianapolis (formerly known as IUPUI) invites applications for a Professor of Practice faculty position in the Health Informatics Program of the Department of BioHealth Informatics (BHI). The appointment will begin August 1, 2024 or when the position is filled on the Indianapolis campus. This is a non-tenure track, 10-month appointment, with the opportunity for annual reappointment and additional summer compensation. The primary duties of a Professor of Practice appointee at IU are teaching and service. Teaching duties include classroom teaching (in-person and online), course and curriculum development, student mentoring and advising. Service includes institutional, professional, and community service promoting innovative research, workforce development, industrial collaborations and sponsorship as aligned to the department’s mission.Position Summary:Exceptional candidates in the field of health informatics are being sought to join our fast-growing department. The Department offers aB.S. in HIM, a B.S. in BMI, an M.S. in Health Informatics, an M.S. in Bioinformatics, seven Graduate Certificates, a Ph.D. in Informatics – Health and Biomedical Informatics Track, and a Ph.D. in Informatics – Bioinformatics Track.Faculty in the department conduct groundbreaking, externally funded research in clinical and health informatics, systems interventions, community participatory research, human-computer interaction, usability, mobile technology and bioinformatics. Indiana is home to large healthcare exchanges, including Indiana Health Information Exchange (IHIE) and Michiana Health Info Network [MHIN], as well as multiple healthcare systems within Indiana.
