    As a Deputy Director within the Office of Public Health Informatics  at the Georgia Department of Public Healthyou will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways. The Deputy Director of the Office of Public Health Informatics (OPHI) supports the OPHI Director and the work, operational and programmatic, of OPHI by taking a leadership role in OPHI led activities and initiatives and provides direct supervision of key personnel within that office.

    • Prepares a monthly DPH project portfolio for the OPHI director that provides a detailed assessment of DPH agency wide projects.  To include, scheduled Monthly Project Portfolio meetings with the OPHI director.
    • Develop, publish, and maintain the HIE and Informatics project artifacts, to include, project readiness assessments, white board sessions, requirements sessions, and protocols for DPH.
    • Assists OPHI director by providing administrative oversight and management of financial, budgetary, personnel, and planning responsibilities.
    • Oversees day to day progress of HIE and Informatics initiatives.
    • Attends various stakeholder meetings and provides information, guidance and consultation to stakeholder groups regarding HIE and Informatics at DPH.   Serve as the liaison between vendor, agencies, DPH, and partners.
    • In collaboration with various stakeholder groups, develop, publish, and maintain designation criteria/documents for HIE and Informatics.
    • Collaborate with other stakeholders of HIE and Informatics in Georgia (Georgia Health Information Network).
    • Collaborate with various national groups on informatics solutions, data quality, and data integration between EHRs, Laboratories, health agencies, and other partners in public health.
    Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Six years experience managing professional level staff 
    OR 
    Ten years of related professional experience AND Six years managing at the level equivalent to area of assignment 
    OR 
    Six years of experience at the lower level (GSM013) or position equivalent. 

    Note: A combination of education and experience at agency discretion. 

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Systems, Health Informatics, or a related degree
    • Proven project management skills, including experience with leading complex software development and analytics projects using standard project management practices (e.g., SDLC, Agile).
    • Previous experience with one (1) or more project methodology certifications
    • Highly adaptable to changing situations.
    • 2 years or more of health information technology experience as a project supervisor or development lead.
    • Proven successful HIE and Informatics project implementation experience as a project supervisor or lead in Public Health.
    • Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, etc.) and data and statistical analysis languages (e.g., Python, R). 
    • Knowledge of interoperability standards (e.g. HL7, HL7 FHIR).
    • Proven budgeting and financial management skills, including budget planning, preparation, and tracking oversight.
    • 2 or more years of experience in education, training, and/or facilitating groups
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
    • Good analytical, organizational, and time management skills
    • Demonstrates outstanding level of professionalism in providing administrative support, including ability to exercise good judgment, discretion, tact, and diplomacy.
