The Director of Informatics will collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer, Care Manager, Director of Revenue Cycle Management and the IT Administrator Manager to develop a strategic approach to reaching quality goals and overseeing the implementation and oversight of the health center’s health information data reporting systems. This position will be responsible for leading the health center in healthcare data continuous quality improvement, data analytics, and production of reporting to support revenue cycle management incentive programs. The Director of Informatics will consistently demonstrate ability to lead data-driven decision making, data analysis, progress monitoring and business strategy.
As a change agent, this position will be responsible for engaging the teams in dialogue best practices to improve healthcare data quality by modeling/forecasting and identifying actionable insights. This position will implement data corrective actions that result in significant clinical quality incentive gains and significant revenue gains.
The incumbent works collaboratively with users of clinical systems and health center administration to improve quality and efficiencies in all departments. The role uses system data to improve data collection and reporting to maximize output, serve as the local expert on all matters related to clinical information systems and quality improvement.
Essential Functions:

Coordinates outward and inward facing quality data reporting

Works collaboratively with users of clinical information systems, health center administrators, community partners, and other departments leads or groups to optimize system performance and leverage resources with the goal of improving clinical quality outcome, operational efficiency improvement, and organizational data advancements.

Provides reporting in collaboration with system user groups, the incumbent will be responsible for presenting conclusions gained from analyzing data tools.

Develop Quality Improvement and Senior Management Dashboards.

Create and produce reports for internal departments and external agencies.

Coordinate and manage specified program data and ongoing internal and publicly reported data.

Coordinate and chairs the HIM Committee and supports clinical information systems users within Spectrum Health Services, Inc.

Serve as a liaison between user groups and clinical information systems provider with the goal of promoting collective organizational goals and partners with leadership on patient care initiatives (e.g. Patient Centered Medical Home Reporting, Meaningful Use Validation Reporting, contracts, programs, and grants that feature clinical care or organizational advancement).

Serve as a liaison between HIM user groups and clinical information systems provider with the goal of promoting collective organizational metrics.

Partner with leadership on patient care initiatives contracts, programs, and grants that feature clinical care or organizational advancement.

Facilitate the exploration and implementation of system enhancements and improved functionality of the enterprise EHR, AthenaNet and population health management system, i2i.

Act as the point person for all system enhancement request submissions and implementation of enhancement requests.

Work with clinical teams on identified goals that require system adjustment and quality measurement.

Provides system upgrades and enhancements and partners with information technology department staff to coordinate aspects of planning, design, development, implementation communication, maintenance and evaluation of existing or new functionality related to clinical information system and clinical quality.

Design and create data structures to produce reports that make data actionable and to facilitate decision making for senior management.

Use enterprise databases, static external databases, and other sources to create, test, and publish complex reports and dashboards for enterprise effectiveness.

Provide leadership in the development, testing, publishing, and maintenance of the network dashboards and work to streamline reporting activities and processes.

Demonstrate technical expertise for reporting responsibilities related to Network projects with an emphasis on state, federal, and externally mandated reporting to fulfill compliance regulations.

Provide leadership to the Quality Improvement Committee to identify the best means to display data, e.g., dashboards, charts, reports, pivot tables and subsequently build the same.

Engage in collaborative relationships with Network healthcare teams, staff, and committees to understand data needs and requirements, and design data-collection strategies, dashboards, benchmarking studies, and effectiveness outcomes using available tools.

Manage all phases of assigned research and evaluation projects and oversee the analysis and dissemination of deliverables.

Utilize data management best practices and ensure the highest level of rigor in the use of data to produce information that is consistent.

Maintain confidentiality, sensitivity, understanding, and respect for diverse populations inclusive of patients of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds.

Collaborate network lines of services to support health information systems implementation, data migration, and daily operations.

Leads System Upgrades and Enhancements and partnering with IT to coordinate aspects of planning, design, development, implementation communication, maintenance and evaluation of existing or new functionality related to clinical information system and clinical quality.

Serves as the subject matter expert in solving problems in the use of clinical information systems.

Experience and Skills:Requirements
- Master’s degree in Health Information Technology preferred.

Working knowledge of all health center data applications and systems

Experience using Microsoft and electronic health records and population health s

Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. All degree(s) must be from a regionally accredited institution of higher learnings.

A minimum of two (2) years of full-time experience in data management and quality data analysis and delivery of high-quality reports and presentations required.

Previous work experience in a health care environment required.

Strong oral and written communication skills and analytical ability required.

Proficiency using MS Excel and related tools required to manage, analyze, and report data required.
