Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Director will establish and maintain accreditation with Clinical Pastoral Education Association, directing and maintaining the Clinical Pastoral Education Center. The Director will fulfill lead Instructor duties to Continuing Education Programs Clinical Students and Chaplains seeking Board Certification as well as provide chaplain program services to patients. In partnership with the mission and spiritual services team, the Director will coordinate on-call schedule with the Hospital Spiritual Care Team so that on-call services are provided by CPE students. The Director will serve as a liaison to Jewish Family Service of the Cincinnati Area and to the Jewish Community of Greater Cincinnati, assisting in the management of the Hospital’s “Traditions Agreement And Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions, and partner with the Mercy Health Foundation to assist in fundraising efforts that benefit the Clinical Pastoral Education Program. The position will be responsible for identification, development and implementation of strategies to deliver high quality services to the communities we serve, assuring compliance to all regulatory standards, drive revenue, and sustainability through creative program development.
Essential Job Functions
Establish & Maintain Accreditation with Clinical Pastoral Education Association. Additionally, prepares and assures timely submission of the mandatory ACPE annual reports. Prepares annual operating and capital budgets for CPE program. Routinely monitors revenues and expenditures.
Oversight and management of all ACPE site visits and surveys.
Ensures substantial compliance with all ACPE requirements and must ensure that this ACPE-accredited program is in substantial compliance with the ACPE Program Requirements, as well as with hospital policies and procedures.
Provides day to day leadership for all areas of the program. Responsible for development and administration of annual budget. Identifies operational, clinical cost reduction opportunities and develops plans for execution. Establishes departmental balanced performance scorecards and monitors progress. Performs benchmark comparisons and adopts best practices. Responds to the demands of internal and external customers and fosters a positive relationship with hospital employees and medical staff. Refines operational processes to align them with improved patient outcomes through cooperation with medical staff, nursing services and ancillary services.
Leads The Hospital Clinical Pastoral Education Professional Advisory Group efforts with the Committee Chair, ensuring quality of learning and educational experiences of the CPE program that lead to measurable achievement of educational outcomes
Responsible for the ACPE-accredited program(s)’ annual evaluation and improvement activities; and all processes related to program expansion or reduction. Demonstrate effective oversight of underperforming program students.
Recruit, Enroll and Educate CPE Students.
Supervise Clinical Rotations within The Jewish Hospital
Support and Advise Chaplains within the BSMH System in their effort to become Board Certified. Coordinate on-call schedule with the Hospital Spiritual Care Team so that on-call services are provided by program’s students.
Act as a liaison to Jewish Family Service of the Cincinnati Area and to the Jewish Community of Greater Cincinnati
Assist hospital president in the management of the “Traditions Agreement and Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions” agreement with the Jewish Foundation of Greater Cincinnati.
