Head of Intensive Care Unit manages and directs operations of the Intensive Care Unit. Develops and implements policies to ensure that ICU operates within budget and complies with established performance standards. POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the ICU Director or designee, ensures the unit runs smoothly by performing clerical duties, ordering supplies, and maintaining the physical environment of the nurses' station.
The primary patients provided care on the ICU/DOU Unit are adults and geriatric patients. The Unit Secretary must be knowledgeable in recognizing signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect, and cognizant of safety issues, both environmental and medical. He/She must be capable of functioning as receptionist and liaison between ICU/DOU Units and other hospital departments and the Medical Staff.
REQUIREMENTS:
High School graduate or equivalent. Prefer one (1) year of acute care experience as a Unit Secretary. Must be well organized, able to manage multiple priorities. Understanding and familiarity with medical terminology. Above average skills and knowledge of computers. Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and staff. Basic Computer Skills required.
