Head of Housekeeping directs and coordinates the daily operations of a housekeeping services department to ensure offices, patient/guest rooms, and other specified areas are kept in a clean and orderly condition. Conducts inspections of facilities and recommends repairs and upgrades when needed. Being a Head of Housekeeping ensures compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations. May create quality standards and monitors the implementation. Additionally, Head of Housekeeping may require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to top management. The Head of Housekeeping typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Head of Housekeeping typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Job description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Clean assigned rooms according to system standards and best methods. This includes but is not limited to making beds, cleaning bathrooms, and dusting furniture.
Place and restock useable items in the guest room including paper items, soap, towels, etc. according to hotel standards.
Operate housekeeping equipment in a correct and safe manner. Report any equipment malfunctions to the General Manager and/or Maintenance department.
Assist with guest laundry completion as required.
Maintain and restock housekeeping cart each day.
Know hotel emergency procedures and be prepared to carry out.
Responsible for the proper administration of key control for issued keys, or keys left by guests in room.
Follow the Lost and Found program.
Report immediately to the General Manager any “out of the ordinary” situations in the guests’ room, including parties in the room, unusually dirty rooms or a vacant room when the room is thought to be occupied.
Complete maintenance work orders and deliver to designated area in a timely manner.
Accommodate guest special requests courteously and with a sense of priority.
Answer guest’s questions regarding local area facilities and services.
Expected to carry out all reasonable requests by Managers/Supervisors which the associate can perform.
Hotel is open 7 days each week, weekends and holidays may be required.
