Head Teller ensures the daily operational activities of the teller line are executed with accuracy and fulfill required service standards. Processes and records routine transactions, handles complex or unusual customer transactions, and answers more complex customer inquiries. Being a Head Teller depending on policy, may authorize certain transactions. Assists with teller onboarding, training, and guidance. Additionally, Head Teller is responsible for vault oversight and the daily auditing, reporting, and balancing processes. Oversees each teller's daily reconciliation and assists if needed. Ensures that tellers comply with all operating, regulatory, and security policies and procedures. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Head Teller supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Head Teller typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     POSITION SUMMARY: Initiates contact and provides referrals, information and follow up to individuals victimized by crime in Teller County.


    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties and responsibilities listed below are central to the job and the employee must be able to perform each function satisfactorily.     (1) Ascertain the needs of each victim and coordinate appropriate action. (Includes court accompaniment, providing referrals, adjudication information and follow up.) 


    (2) Produces appropriate correspondence, including supportive victimization material and sends packets to individuals who have been victimized in Teller County. (VRA information included when not provided by sworn personnel.) 


    (3) Includes self on call-out schedule for after-hour victim assistance. Working hours include on-call rotation of some nights, weekends, and occasional holidays. 


    (4) Assists with the production, distribution, and documentation of an initial in-depth victim advocate training curriculum. 


    (5) Assists in the documentation of volunteer participation and completion of training. 


    (6) Updates the Teller DV Handbook, VRA pocket brochures, Survivor's Guide and VA Training and Reference Manual prior to each printing. 


    (7) Updates and amends the internal resource list for the VA's and Elder Outreach Program annually, as well as the lending library inventory as needed. 


    (8) Responsible for data entry on incoming cases including verification and follow up. 


    (9) Prepares material for training events and updates the annual activities calendar. 


    (10) Provides backup for the program coordinator and is responsible for office operations in her absence. 


    (11) Manages, collects and recycles cellular phones for the program's loaner component. 


    (12) Researches, organizes and orders educational materials for victims. 


    (13) Other duties as assigned.



    Requirements

    (1) Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:


    Knowledge of: principles and processes for providing excellent customer service, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction; office procedures and equipment; basic legal terminology, format and standard legal instruments relating to victim rights; criminal justice system and court procedure; crisis intervention and counseling techniques.  


    Skilled in: interviewing and obtaining relevant information from persons in crisis; handling stressful situations; use of basic computer software programs; understanding and applying pertinent laws, rules, regulations and policies; using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines; maintaining confidentiality; organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines and following up on assignments with minimum direction and supervision; applying logical thinking to solve problems or accomplish tasks; understanding, interpreting and communicating complicated policies, procedures and protocols; working in a deadline driven environment; initiating and responding to medium volume of daily calls/contact; interacting with all levels of internal and external professionals while developing strong productive relationships.


    Ability to: communicate effectively in writing and verbally; effectively testify in court; establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with co-workers, other county departments, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and the public; prepare accurate legal documents relating to victim rights; make simple math calculation; maintain confidentiality and discretion; be a self-starter; successfully accomplish multiple tasks simultaneously while working independently or within a team environment; work with minimal supervision; deal with a variety of people, cultures, problems and circumstances; analyze and resolve problems involving several variables; understand and carry out written and oral instructions, giving close attention to detail and accuracy.  


    (2) Experience/Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Graduation from an accredited college paralegal or related program; bachelor’s degree preferred; experience in a Victim’s Advocate role preferred; any acceptable combination of education, training and experience that provides the listed knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted.


    (3) Visual Acuity/Hearing/Speaking: Must be able to write and read; able to hear, see and speak. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Vision may be corrected. 


    (4) Physical Effort/Dexterity: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is often required to walk, sit, or use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to operate a vehicle, talk on radios and telephones. Ability to stand/walk for 2-3 hours at a time.


    (5) Environmental Factors: The noise level in the work environment is typical of a busy office, ranging from quiet to moderately noisy. The environment may include anywhere victims may be found including accident and crime scenes after they have been secured.


    (6) Work Schedule/Characteristics: 40 hours per week; availability outside normal business hours to include weekends and/or holidays may be required.  


    (7) License/Certification Requirements: Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license.
