Head Nurse - Pediatrics directs nursing service activities for assigned pediatric patients. Delegates responsibilities to pediatric staff nurses; supervises preparation and maintenance of pediatric patient clinical records, and writes reports on pediatrics staff performance and services rendered. Being a Head Nurse - Pediatrics maintains pre-set inventory standards for solutions, supplies, medicines and equipment, and keeps track of narcotics. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Additionally, Head Nurse - Pediatrics requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - Pediatrics manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Nurse - Pediatrics typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     • Associates Degree in Nursing Required. Bachelors, preferred.

    Schedule:

    • 4/10’s, 4 days a week with 10 hours shifts. 40 hours per week
      • Day off: Wednesday
    • Schedules are built out 2 months in advance
    • One weekend day per month and one holiday per year

    Work Environment/Physical Demands:

    The following is required to perform the essential functions of this role.

    While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works in an office/clinic setting, are as follows:

    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
    • Prolonged periods of standing, walking and bending
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
    • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English and communicate effectively

    Summary:

    The Registered Nurse (RN) works under the direction of providers and managers to provide excellent nursing care to patients in the clinic and on the phone. Our Nurse position requires a positive attitude while following all company procedures and maintaining a positive working relationship with staff, managers, directors, and providers.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Provide effective and efficient telephone nursing advice that include telephone triage (included but limited to Barton Schmitt Pediatric Protocols), health information, case and disease management, patient education, referral, and care coordination with other organizations or providers
    • Provide patient care within scope of practice, including services supported by medically approved protocols, with/without provider encounter such as medication administration, and lab procedures
    • Educate patients and families on vaccines, medications, procedures, etc.
    • Administer medications (PO, SQ, ID and IM) and inhalation treatment as ordered by the providers
    • Process and approve patient prescription refills per Allegro standing ordering guidelines
    • Communicate appropriate information to providers and other health team members in a timely manner. Collaborate with all clinic staff and clinic manager
    • Chart all actions (phone calls, procedures, etc.), complete and send tasks in EHR
    • Complete patient assessments and triage walk in patients, record patient histories, symptoms, and observations
    • Promote atmosphere of patient care and customer service excellence, respecting patient rights, confidentiality, diversity, and developmental needs. Participate in committee and quality improvement activities as requested
    • Promote compliance with OSHA standards for clinical activities
    • Monitor and manage nurse room appointments
    • Ability to run emergency codes
    • Obtain patient x-rays after appropriate training performed at Allegro
    • Perform Medical Assistant duties if needed
    • Perform other duties as assigned
    • Must be willing to travel to all clinics, if necessary
    • Must be available to work on weekend and holiday rotations

    • To uphold safety for all employees and patients, we continue to require vaccination status for all new hires, including remote or hybrid schedules, at time of hire and annually

      • We require flu immunizations at time of hire and annually
      • Various other immunization requirements that we can discuss during your interview

    All employees are currently required to wear a surgical, KN95 or N95 mask at all times while in clinic, patient facing
