Head Nurse - Pediatrics directs nursing service activities for assigned pediatric patients. Delegates responsibilities to pediatric staff nurses; supervises preparation and maintenance of pediatric patient clinical records, and writes reports on pediatrics staff performance and services rendered. Being a Head Nurse - Pediatrics maintains pre-set inventory standards for solutions, supplies, medicines and equipment, and keeps track of narcotics. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Additionally, Head Nurse - Pediatrics requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - Pediatrics manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Nurse - Pediatrics typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     HSI is looking for a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP). Our CRNPs provide diversified health care and assist in administering comprehensive, continuous, personalized primary health care. The Nurse Practitioner facilitates the entrance of individuals into the health care system and provides care to the ambulatory patients. The CRNP may also coordinate the primary care of patients and refer them to appropriate secondary care through the physician preceptor.  HSI CNRP manage common episodic and chronic illness in collaboration with the physician preceptor and in accordance with written protocols.

    This position typically works a standard schedule of 7:30am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday, however, schedule adjustments may be necessary based on need.

    Job Duties:

    1. Focuses their practice on the family and stresses health screening, supervision of the well, and disease and prevention.
    2. Provides health teaching and counseling as needed to assist individuals and families to assume responsibility for self-care in prevention of illness, health maintenance and health restoration.
    3. Applies knowledge of human behavior and family dynamics in helping individuals and families cope with problems that interfere with optimal health practices.
    4. Assumes responsibility for health surveillance, including anticipatory guidance relevant to health teaching, to promote optimal physical and mental health and disease prevention.
    5. Assumes responsibility for clinical management, including health supervision, and for direct care of persons having uncomplicated illness, chronic diseases, and persons who have had minor accidents.
    6. Collects and records health histories for individuals and families in a systematic and accurate form and critically evaluates the findings.
    7. Evaluates current health status and risk factors of individuals based on comprehensive health-history and comprehensive physical examination and assessments.
    8. Conducts a comprehensive appraisal of the patient’s health status including physical examination, assessment and evaluation of development, maturation, coping ability, emotional status and social stability, and any presenting complaints.
    9. Formulates a working diagnosis, develop and implement a treatment plan, evaluate and-modify therapeutic regimens to promote positive patient outcomes.
    10. Prescribe, administer and provide therapeutic measures, tests, procedures, and drugs, as allowed by license.
    11. Determine which patients should be referred to physicians or to others and guide them to utilize appropriate community resources.
    12. Provide continuity of care for those families now using multiple facilities for health care.
    13. Consults with and/or refers to physicians and other health care providers as needed.

    Education and Experience:

    1. Possess a Master’s Degree from an accredited school in advanced practice nursing.
    2. Currently licensed by the State of Alabama as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner and possess current certification as a certified registered nurse practitioner granted by a national certifying agency.
    3. Previous experience as a Registered Nurse required. Experience as a Nurse Practitioner in a clinical setting desirable.
