Head Nurse - Operating Room directs nursing service activities for assigned patients in the operating room. Delegates responsibilities to auxiliary and operating room staff nurses. Being a Head Nurse - Operating Room supervises preparation and maintenance of patient clinical records and writes reports on operating room staff performance and services rendered. Maintains pre-set inventory standards for solutions, supplies, medicines and equipment, and keeps track of narcotics. Additionally, Head Nurse - Operating Room requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). POSITION SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse provides general nursing care to patients in hospital or similar healthcare facility by performing the following duties, in compliance with hospital standards of maintaining confidentiality, integrity, quality care and professionalism. Registered nurses may have choice of department or specialty area. Some areas RNs can specialize include but are not limited to: Emergency; Intensive care; Operating room; Post surgery; Cardiovascular; Pediatrics; Geriatrics and Skilled.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
o Incumbent must be a graduate of school of nursing.
o Preferred: Bachelor's Degree
o Current West Virginia license.
o Must possess BLS certification within probationary period.
o Must obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support within
one year.
o For OR Nurses, the following are required:
-º Completion of Periop 101 AORN course within one year.
