Head Nurse - Operating Room directs nursing service activities for assigned patients in the operating room. Delegates responsibilities to auxiliary and operating room staff nurses. Being a Head Nurse - Operating Room supervises preparation and maintenance of patient clinical records and writes reports on operating room staff performance and services rendered. Maintains pre-set inventory standards for solutions, supplies, medicines and equipment, and keeps track of narcotics. Additionally, Head Nurse - Operating Room requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - Operating Room manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Nurse - Operating Room typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Spectrum Healthcare Resources has an excellent opportunity for a Full-time Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse at Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital in Fort Johnson, LA
This position offers:
- Full-time opportunity, 40 hours/week
- Opportunity to provide care to our active duty military and their families
- 12 hour shifts (Friday, Saturday, Sunday and a 4 hour shift either Monday or Thursday); holiday schedule varies
Requirements:
- Current RN License in any of the 50 states
- Minimum of 1 year of Circulating OR (RN) experience required
- Active BLS certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- U.S. Citizen
Key Duties:
- Assist the surgical team during procedures by providing instruments, supplies, and sterile equipment.
- Monitor patients' vital signs, anesthesia administration, and overall condition throughout surgery, intervening as needed to maintain safety and stability.
- Transition patients to the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) or other recovery areas following surgery.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all aspects of patient care.
- Communicate effectively with members of the surgical team, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
