Head Nurse - Oncology directs nursing service activities for assigned oncology patients. Delegates responsibilities to oncology staff nurses; supervises preparation and maintenance of oncology patient clinical records, and writes reports on oncology staff performance and services rendered. Being a Head Nurse - Oncology maintains pre-set inventory standards for solutions, supplies, medicines and equipment, and keeps track of narcotics. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Additionally, Head Nurse - Oncology requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - Oncology manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Nurse - Oncology typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Shenandoah Oncology is looking for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) who possesses exceptional interpersonal skills and a genuine compassion for patients. If you are passionate about oncology care and have the desire to make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients and their families, we encourage you to apply. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to individuals, families, and patient groups who are facing cancer or other related diagnoses. This role encompasses a range of responsibilities, including prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research. The position requires a commitment of four days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday) with each workday consisting of ten hours. Additionally, the NP will be expected to be on-call for weekend and after-hours on a rotating basis, as determined by the schedule.
    Responsibilities:

    • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients.

    • Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated.
    • Performs procedures after appropriate training.
    • Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
    • Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
    • Incorporates the developing knowledge of evidence-based research into clinical practice.
    • Developing knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
    • Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.
    • May provide case management for patients and their families, given limited knowledge of community resources.

    • May promote/provide staff education

    • Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals and weekend or after-hour calls.

    Qualifications:
    • Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.
    • This position is entry-level and typically requires a minimum of 0-3 years post MSN experience, preferably in the chosen specialty.
    • RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
    • Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
    • Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
