Head Nurse - Obstetrics directs nursing service activities for assigned patients in the delivery room and birthing units. Delegates responsibilities to auxiliary and obstetrics staff nurses; supervises preparation and maintenance of obstetrics patient clinical records, and writes reports on obstetrics room staff performance and services rendered. Being a Head Nurse - Obstetrics maintains pre-set inventory standards for solutions, supplies, medicines and equipment, and keeps track of narcotics. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Additionally, Head Nurse - Obstetrics requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Head Nurse - Obstetrics manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Head Nurse - Obstetrics typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Oral Surgery Assistant
  • HEAD & NECK SURGICAL ASSOCIATE
  • Portland, OR FULL_TIME
  • DEPARTMENT: Oral Surgery

    DAYS: Monday – Friday (one day off; varies)

    HOURS: 7am – 6pm

    JOB SUMMARY: Assist the doctors and prepare patient for oral surgery. Provide patient education related to pre-op and post-op questions.


    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Greet patients and escort them from the waiting room to the procedure room; prepare patients for their surgery.
    • Notify physician once the patient is ready and you have reviewed their health history, vitals and x-rays.
    • Stock and prep procedure rooms with necessary instruments.
    • Assist the physician with the medical and dental surgical procedures.
    • Help with patient recovery after surgery and escort them, via wheelchair, to their ride’s car.
    • Perform patient education when appropriate.

    PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

    • Dispose of contaminated items according to OSHA guidelines.
    • Attend all staff meetings.
    • Comply with HIPAA guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality.
    • Polite and professional communication with patients and ancillary personnel.

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • High school degree
    • X-ray certified
    • Current CPR certification
    • Dental Assistant certification

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Minimum 2 years of experience in a dental office with interest in oral surgery.
    • Experience handling lab paperwork.
    • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records systems.
    • Performing x-rays on patients


    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Position requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and walking. Employee will occasionally be asked to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds. Normal visual acuity and hearing are required.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Work is performed in both office and hospital settings. Employee will have frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
